Two and a half minutes later, however, they found themselves behind. Andrei Svechnikov<\/a> tied things up for the Hurricanes before doubling his tally 44 seconds after via a power play.<\/p>\n Elias Pettersson<\/a>, who received the two-minute minor that led to Carolina’s second goal, restored parity in the game. Ironcially, the forward scored when the Canucks were shorthanded.\u00a0<\/p>\n Three minutes and change into the second frame, Vancouver went back in front. Conor Garland<\/a> converted on a man advantage situation, giving his side the lead. The score would stay 3-2 until the 6:26 mark of the third period, where Taylor Hall<\/a> got his fourth goal of the year to level things once more.<\/p>\n With 31 seconds left in the overtime period, the Canes got their winner. Sebastian Aho<\/a> put his shot in off a solo effrt, ending an entertaining contest.\u00a0<\/p>\n It was the 12th win on the year for Carolina, who are second in the Eastern Conference on 24 points, one back of the New Jersey Devils<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n As for Vancouver, they have lost their last three, leaving them 14th in the West.<\/p>\n Elsewhere, Filip Forsberg<\/a> scored an equalizer for the Nashville Predators<\/a> 1:10 before the end of regulation to tie things up with the Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a>. Steve Stamkos<\/a> then netted the winning goal just 44 seconds into overtime to complete a 2-1 comeback win<\/a> for the Preds.\u00a0<\/p>\n Despite conceding twice in the opening period, the New York Islanders<\/a> found a way through versus the Utah Mammoth<\/a>, tying things up in the final period before scoring their winner in overtime. Matthew Schaefer<\/a> got the deciding goal in a 3-2 victory for the guests.<\/a><\/p>\n Christian Dvorak<\/a> and Trevor Zegras<\/a> both scored twice for the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> in their 6-5 shootout win<\/a> against the St. Louis Blues<\/a>. Although they went down 5-3 at one point, the Flyers bounced back in the third, with two goals in less than three minutes.<\/p>\n Zegras had his chance for a hat-trick in overtime, but could not make the most of his penalty shot. The 24-year-old would make amends in the shootout, being the only shooter of five to convert his attempt.<\/p>\n The win saw the Flyers leap the Detroit Red Wings<\/a> into the eighth and final playoff spot in the East while also ending a two-game slide.<\/p>\n
