{"id":286186,"date":"2025-11-15T12:56:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-15T12:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/286186\/"},"modified":"2025-11-15T12:56:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-15T12:56:09","slug":"jorge-lorenzo-reflects-on-2015-motogp-title-win-i-knew-i-couldnt-fail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/286186\/","title":{"rendered":"Jorge Lorenzo reflects on 2015 MotoGP title win: \u2018I knew I couldn\u2019t fail\u2026\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three-time MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo says \u201cI knew I couldn\u2019t fail\u201d in the controversial finale to the 2015 season, in which he won the title.<\/p>\n<p>The former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/monster-energy-yamaha-motogp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yamaha<\/a> star put together one of his best seasons ever in the premier class in 2015, as he forced the championship battle to go to the final round in Valencia.<\/p>\n<p>The 2015 finale was shrouded in controversy following the infamous Sepang clash between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1999\/valentino-rossi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Valentino Rossi<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1654\/marc-marquez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marc Marquez<\/a>, after the former accused the Spaniard of conspiring to sabotage the Yamaha rider\u2019s title challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Rossi was given a back-of-the-grid start for Valencia, after being hit with three penalty points in Malaysia to trigger that penalty.<\/p>\n<p>Coming from seven points behind in the standings against Yamaha team-mate Rossi, Lorenzo converted pole in Valencia to victory for the seventh time that season.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>With Rossi fourth after riding through from the back, Lorenzo was crowned MotoGP champion for a third time by just five points.<\/p>\n<p>Jorge Lorenzo\u2019s memories of 2015 Valencia finale<\/p>\n<p>This year marks the 10th anniversary of Lorenzo\u2019s final MotoGP world title, with the Spaniard\u2019s Yamaha from that year forming part of a display in the Valencia paddock this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/feature\/1085302\/1\/sepang-2015-sad-reality-still-haunting-valentino-rossi-motogps-biggest\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The sad reality still haunting Valentino Rossi after MotoGP&#8217;s biggest fallout<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the MotoGP world feed on Saturday afternoon about 2015, Lorenzo said: \u201cWell, time goes super quick.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI cannot believe 10 years has passed. I was super strong, physically, and I knew I would make it. So, I tried to be sure that nothing was out of my control, that everything was ok.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, I was very careful with my mechanics so that all of the bike was perfect and there were no mistakes with anything.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew I had to do my best qualifying in my life, and I did it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I knew I had to be perfect in the race, and I was. So, I didn\u2019t fail, I didn\u2019t make any mistakes.
