{"id":287134,"date":"2025-11-15T23:38:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-15T23:38:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/287134\/"},"modified":"2025-11-15T23:38:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-15T23:38:08","slug":"terriers-outlast-chargers-for-second-straight-road-win-65-58","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/287134\/","title":{"rendered":"Terriers Outlast Chargers for Second Straight Road Win, 65-58"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NORTH HAVEN, Conn. \u2013 Senior <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/anete-adler\/26484\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26484\" target=\"_blank\">Anete Adler<\/a> dropped a season-high 21 points to lead three Terriers in double figures as the Boston University women&#8217;s basketball team defeated New Haven 65-58 on Saturday evening at The Hazell Center.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nBU (2-2) led by as many as 14 points on multiple occasions and nailed seven of its 11 attempts from three-point range to tally its second consecutive road victory in its first meeting against the Chargers (1-3).<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nAdler hit eight of her 16 shots and also contributed eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Junior <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/audrey-ericksen\/26487\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26487\" target=\"_blank\">Audrey Ericksen<\/a> knocked down a trio of three-pointers for 11 points and six rebounds. Classmate <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/bella-mclaughlin\/26492\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26492\" target=\"_blank\">Bella McLaughlin<\/a> added 11 points, six assists and three steals.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLindsay Hogan paced New Haven with 21 points on 8-for-21 shooting. Merit Innocent collected 14 points off the bench.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHOW IT HAPPENED<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tBU&#8217;s first three buckets came on layups from Adler and McLaughlin, but Hogan countered with a pair of three-pointers for a 6-6 deadlock three minutes into the matchup.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Terriers were limited to two field goals over a five-minute span, allowing the Chargers to build a 17-12 lead through five three-pointers.&#13;<br \/>\n\tJunior <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/in-eacutes-monteagudo-pardo\/26493\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26493\" target=\"_blank\">In\u00e9s Monteagudo Pardo<\/a> canned a three before the end of the first quarter, then McLaughlin ignited the second with a pair of layups for a 7-0 Terrier run that handed the visitors a 21-19 advantage.&#13;<br \/>\n\tSchuyler Coles knocked down two free throws, but BU answered with triples from Ericksen and sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/hildur-gunnsteinsd-oacute-ttir\/26491\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26491\" target=\"_blank\">Hildur Gunnsteinsd\u00f3ttir<\/a> to make it 27-21 with 5:47 left in the frame.&#13;<br \/>\n\tNeither team scored in the final 2:33 of the first half, but two baskets from Schwertner helped the Terriers build a 31-25 halftime lead.&#13;<br \/>\n\tEricksen and Gunnsteinsd\u00f3ttir sandwiched another Hogan three with their own triples two minutes into the third quarter. Ericksen&#8217;s bucket made it 39-28 Terriers.&#13;<br \/>\n\tEricksen found Adler on the left block for a layup, then nailed her third three-pointer of the game at the 4:15 mark to give BU its largest lead of the day, 47-33.&#13;<br \/>\n\tNew Haven pulled within single digits on a 6-0 run that took nearly two minutes, but Monteagudo added breathing room with a corner three off Adler&#8217;s outlet pass for a 52-41 edge with 1:20 left in the stanza.&#13;<br \/>\n\tAdler opened the fourth quarter with a layup that replenished the double-digit gap at 54-43, but New Haven rattled off an extended 10-3 run for nearly six minutes to cut the lead to 57-53 with 3:18 left in regulation.&#13;<br \/>\n\tOut of a BU timeout, Adler posted up on the left block and got the turnaround floater to fall, extending the lead to 59-53 with 3:09 on the timer.&#13;<br \/>\n\tGunnsteinsd\u00f3ttir forced a Hogan turnover with 1:17 to play, allowing for McLaughlin to skate down the right lane for a layup with less than 58 seconds left that made it 62-55.&#13;<br \/>\n\tHogan&#8217;s fifth three-pointer on the next possession sliced the distance to 62-58, but McLaughlin and Ericksen teamed up for three foul shots to seal the result.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>STATS<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tAs a team, the Terriers shot 45.8 percent from the field, with 37 of their 48 attempts taken inside the arc.&#13;<br \/>\n\tNew Haven shot just under 40 percent but was limited to an 8-for-30 clip (26.7 percent) from distance.&#13;<br \/>\n\tBU won the rebounding battle, 32-28.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Terriers led for 32:17 of the game, their largest mark in a game this season.&#13;<br \/>\n\tPaint points favored BU, 30-24.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>NOTES<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tAdler eclipsed the 20-point plateau for the second time in her career and first since dropping 24 points vs. American on Feb. 22. She leads BU with 12.5 points per game in 2025-26.&#13;<br \/>\n\tEricksen reached double figures for the 14th time as a Terrier. She has made over 46 percent of her three-point shots this year.&#13;<br \/>\n\tMcLaughlin matched her career high with six assists, which she last reached vs. Georgetown on Nov. 27, 2024.&#13;<br \/>\n\tBU made over 63 percent of its three-point shots for the first time since Dec. 4, 2022 against Boston College.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Terriers won their first matchup against New Haven and are now 6-0 against NEC opponents under head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/coaches\/melissa-graves\/8316\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8316\" target=\"_blank\">Melissa Graves<\/a>.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>UP NEXT<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tBU concludes its road trip at Brown on Wednesday (Nov. 19).
