{"id":287830,"date":"2025-11-16T07:40:14","date_gmt":"2025-11-16T07:40:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/287830\/"},"modified":"2025-11-16T07:40:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-16T07:40:14","slug":"millions-of-aussies-are-about-to-cop-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/287830\/","title":{"rendered":"Millions of Aussies are about to cop it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Millions of Aussies across the east coast are bracing for more wild weather as a rain band pushes its way from inland Australia to the coast, with the possibility of \u201clarge\u201d hail amid the weather drama.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Wild weather has battered much of the east coast of Australia over the past few days \u2013 with widespread fire danger now headlining NSW.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">More than 10,000 Queensland properties were left without power amid the deluge over Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Flood warnings for the Bremer River and Warrill Creek are now active, with the Bureau of Meteorology warning moderate flooding is occurring at Harrisville in the Scenic Rim region.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Millions of Aussies are set to be smashed by heavy rains this Sunday. Picture: Supplied \/ Weatherzone<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On Sunday, Sky News Weather presenter Julia Seymour said \u201calmost every state and territory\u201d is expecting to hear the rumble of thunder over the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Queensland had copped the brunt of the wild weather, which is forecast to push into northern NSW.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe could be seeing the effects (of wind, rain and potentially large hail) in Coffs Harbour and Lismore,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Ms Seymour said a rain band had stretched across the Far North of the state down to the coastline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She said conditions are forecast to ease on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On Saturday, Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Angus Hines sounded the alarm over a severe storm that reached south east Queensland and northern NSW.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"The BOM warns of thunderstorms across the country. Picture Supplied<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThis is where we could see even more significant weather impacts in the form of giant hail stones potentially 5 cm or greater and destructive winds,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">However, the warnings didn\u2019t stop there, with the NSW Rural Fire Service on Saturday evening warning of widespread fire danger across the state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A total fire ban was declared for the Lower Central West Plains and Central Ranges regions for Sunday, due to forecast hot and windy conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The ban begins at midnight on Saturday and covers the council areas of Central Ranges, Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Lithgow, Mid-Western, Oberon and Orange.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It also covers the Lower Central West Plains, Bland, Dubbo, Forbes, Lachlan, Narromine, Parkes, Temora and Weddin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Wild weather continues<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Saturday\u2019s storm follows Friday\u2019s wild weather across northern NSW and South East Queensland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Friday\u2019s storms brought reports of 4cm hail, localised flash flooding and fallen trees across affected areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Power was disrupted to more than 10,000 properties across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Redland, Moreton Bay, Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, Somerset and Toowoomba overnight, with crews restoring supply to most by Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Federal Budget Generic Images\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/8bc2d8f84e73b3f8e9d6e2f6ae7a140e.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>It will be rainy across the east coast on Saturday. Picture: Supplied<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On Saturday Sydneysiders can expect a cloudy day with the possibility of storms and showers throughout the afternoon and a maximum temperature of 27C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Brisbane residents can expect a stormy and wet day, with a thunderstorm forecast for the evening and a top of 26C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Canberra will have a cooler start before it can also expect showers and storms across the afternoon as it reaches a maximum of 27C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Conditions in Melbourne are forecast to be overcast with a chance of a shower or two in the morning, before reaching a maximum of 21C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Adelaide is also tipped to avoid the wild weather hitting the east coast, with a possible shower in the evening after reaching a maximum of 23C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Hobart will be cooler and cloudy and windy, but no rain is expected as the mercury reaches a top of 19C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Locals in Perth will avoid the wild weather altogether, with sunny skies and no chance of rain, reaching a top of 25C on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Darwin is expected to be warmer but with showers and thunderstorms throughout the day.
