Premiership Magpie Mason Cox’s dream of continuing his AFL<\/a> career may become a reality after reports indicated that Fremantle are interested in luring the ruck-forward west.<\/p>\n

Cox was delisted by Collingwood at the conclusion of the 2025 season, having played 139 games since he debuted on Anzac Day 10 years ago.<\/p>\n

The American Pie was also pivotal to the club’s flag three years ago.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0The Age, the Dockers are looking at bringing in Cox as a back-up ruck to Sean Darcy<\/a> and Luke Jackson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“The Dockers would most likely be interested in Cox joining as an SSP rookie, potentially on a two-year deal,” the report said.<\/p>\n

The interest comes as Fremantle farewelled depth tall Liam Reidy<\/a>, who was traded to Carlton for senior opportunities.<\/p>\n

The narrative surrounding Darcy’s health would also play a part in the Dockers’ thinking, who has played 44 games in three campaigns due to persistent injury.<\/p>\n

The inclusion of Cox would also help alleviate the pressure on emerging forwards Patrick Voss<\/a>, Jye Amiss<\/a> and Josh Treacy<\/a>, as well as add some much-needed experience.<\/p>\n

The removal of the sub rule and adding an extra on the bench has also opened the door for more talls to be used on game day.<\/p>\n

The cut Collingwood tall has stated he would “love to come and play for another club”, and has previously hinted in being with talks with rivals about the possibility.<\/p>\n

“I think I definitely have more in me for sure. You just want to kind of finish out your career and have a good kind of [story] until the end, whenever it might be,” he said on Triple M Melbourne’s Mick in the Morning\u00a0in October<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I think I’ve got a lot left in me and a lot to give, and I’d love to come and play for another club and be valued, bring something and help younger people along, while hopefully playing myself.”<\/p>\n

Cox has also flagged an interest in playing football in the nation’s Top End,<\/a> indicating a real desire to join the Darwin league.
“A lot of people have messages to come and play in Darwin,” he said on\u00a0ABC’s Summer Grandstand\u00a0late last month.
“When I retire, hopefully in two years or whenever it is, I want to go up to the Tiwi Islands because I’ve had incredible experiences there and would love to play at that oval in an official game.”<\/p>\n
