Ex-Dragons playmaker Jonah Glover revealed he left the club because he didn\u2019t think he would get a chance in first grade under Shane Flanagan. <\/p>\n

Glover starred in the Dragons\u2019 NSW Cup side\u2019s charge to the Grand Final, but like teammate Lachlan Ilias he was not given a crack at first grade, with Kyle Flanagan and Lykhan King-Togia holding the halves spots for most of the 2025 season. <\/p>\n

Ilias has since left the club to join the Titans on a two year deal, after he was released from the final year of his Dragons contract. <\/p>\n

Glover has scored 17 tries in 49 games in reserve grade for the Dragons and Broncos, including nine tries in 26 games last season, but he couldn\u2019t earn a first grade debut. <\/p>\n

The Dragons finished 15th as Flanagan kept faith in son Kyle and King-Togia and Glover saw the writing on the wall, before inking a two year deal with the Rabbitohs. <\/p>\n

Speaking with The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>, Glover admits he saw his path to first grade blocked at the Dragons. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a good year in Cup at the Dragons, I really enjoyed my time, but I felt like I was never going to make the NRL at the Dragons, so I moved to the Rabbitohs,\u201d Glover told The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was hard to get a look in. I felt like I played pretty well, but just didn\u2019t get the opportunity to play.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully, next year I\u2019ll be able to make a stand and make my NRL debut.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old jumped at the chance to continue his development under master coach Wayne Bennett at the Rabbitohs and will fight Jamie Humphreys and Jayden Sullivan for a starting halves berth alongside Cody Walker in 2026. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m pretty excited,\u201d Glover said. <\/p>\n

\u201c[Bennett] was actually a pretty big factor because obviously, I\u2019m from Queensland and he was coaching the Queensland side.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018Man, I would love to be coached by him\u2019 and as soon as I heard that it was possible to go to the Rabbitohs, I was like \u2018Where do I sign?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Glover is hopeful of earning Bennett\u2019s trust and getting a chance to play first grade next season. <\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, I haven\u2019t been tested yet, but when I get the chance I\u2019ll be ready,\u201d Glover said. <\/p>\n
