Queensland rugby league<\/a> great and Seven NRL expert Trevor Gillmeister has been charged with assaulting and obstructing a police officer, as well as public nuisance, over an alleged incident at the Stock Exchange Hotel in Brisbane City.<\/p>\n

Police say they were stopped by a member of the public on Friday night and made aware of a physical disturbance inside the venue.<\/p>\n

They say the 61-year-old had been evicted after assaulting a staff member.<\/p>\n

Officers allege a physical struggle followed as they tried to arrest him.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice have charged a 61-year-old Gordon Park man following an alleged disturbance at a licensed premises in Brisbane City on Friday, November 14,\u201d a Queensland Police Service spokesperson said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cShortly before midnight, police were stopped by a member of the public in relation to a physical disturbance inside the Charlotte Street venue.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon arrival officers were advised the man had been evicted after allegedly assaulting a staff member.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice attempted to speak with the man and advise he was under arrest for public nuisance, when it will be alleged he pushed officers away.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will then be alleged the man became involved in a physical struggle with police before being arrested and transported to a Brisbane City Watchhouse.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has since been charged with one count each of public nuisance, assault and obstruct police.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gillmeister is expected to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 2.<\/p>\n

He played 257 first grade games across his career, including 72 for the Broncos in the early 1990s. He was a key member of the team that won the premiership in 1992 and 1993.<\/p>\n

The prop played 22 games for Queensland in Origin and also represented Australia in three Tests.<\/p>\n

Post playing career, he worked as an assistant coach for the Queensland Origin team.<\/p>\n
