A Western Australian bikie known for his distinctive facial tattoos has been fined after tattooing a Nazi swastika on his chin.

Dayne Brajkovich has admitted inking the offensive symbol, but has since modified the tattoo so it is no longer a banned symbol under WA law.

Appearing in the Perth Magistrates Court today, his lawyer Patrick Gardner said he had the “very small” tattoo inked prior to the symbol being outlawed.

His lawyer argued the tattoo did not signify affiliation with any group.

Brajkovich was initially charged in September after a police search of his Burswood home turned up steroids that he did not have a prescription for, and knuckle dusters.

Mr Gardner said Brajkovich had forgotten he had the knuckle dusters.

He pleaded guilty to displaying a Nazi symbol in a public place, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a prescription drug and possession of a prohibited drug and was fined $500 for each offence.

Brajkovich left court flanked by five supporters, including Perth bikie gang member Troy Mercanti, who said it was “big fuss for nothing.”

“He’s a good man,” Mr Mercanti told reporters about his friend.

“We’re the twins,” Mr Mercanti said.

“It’s a black and white world.”

High-profile figure

WA passed laws in 2024 outlawing the display of Nazi symbols and the performance of the Nazi salute in public.

It set the maximum penalty at five years in prison or a $24,000 fine.

The heavily tattooed Brajkovich has previously attracted police attention over his involvement in a violent public brawl with murdered former Rebels gang boss, Nick Martin.

The fight, in broad daylight at a busy Scarborough bar in November 2020, came two weeks before Martin was shot dead in front of members of the public at the Perth Motorplex in Kwinana by a sniper.

Brajkovich’s house in Ascot was later the target of a drive-by shooting in March 2021.

And in 2023, Four Corners revealed he was able to purchase $27,000 worth of gold from the Perth Mint, in a transaction that poked major holes in the government owned entity’s compliance regime.
