A married couple have been reported as missing for the last four days while travelling as tourists through Central Australia, according to Northern Territory police.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 64-year-old man and 58-year-old woman were last seen on Thursday at Palm Valley in Finke Gorge National Park, about 138 kilometres west of Alice Springs.<\/p>\n
The couple who were travelling in a silver Isuzu D-Max towing a caravan, with Victorian plates, were reported missing today by family, who had not heard from the tourists since last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“The family last heard from them on the 10th of November where they were constantly sending photos through and … [they’ve] heard nothing since,” Darwin Watch Commander, Mark Edwards said.<\/p>\n

“I mean that that part of the the territory, there is either little or no reception.<\/p>\n
“However, obviously because it’s been a week now, you would think that it would have come back into contact somewhere and at least reached out to the family.”<\/p>\n
Watch Commander Edwards said it is believed the couple were travelling towards Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park, but never arrived.<\/p>\n
“Kings Canyon have been contacted as well, and the couple haven’t checked in there,” he said.<\/p>\n
The watch commander said officers from Yulara, Hermannsburg and Mutitjulu police station have been “making enquiries and heading out on road patrols to try and locate them”, as had park rangers from Finke National Park.<\/p>\n
Police have also tried to “triangulate” the pair’s phones, but only tracked them to their last seen location.<\/p>\n
“We’ve sent text to their mobiles, however, both phones are off or out of range,” Watch Commander Edwards said.<\/p>\n
He said the force’s search and rescue team had been “notified” of the case.<\/p>\n
“If it deems to go up to the next level, then [search and rescue] will obviously be deployed.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
