Queensland retired rugby league player and Seven News rugby league analyst Trevor Gillmeister has been charged after an alleged incident at a Brisbane venue.<\/p>\n
Queensland police were called to a licensed premises in Brisbane City on Friday after reports the 61-year-old man, known as “the Axe”, had been evicted for allegedly assaulting a staff member.<\/p>\n
In a statement, police said officers were stopped by a member of the public shortly before midnight in relation to a physical disturbance inside the Charlotte Street venue.<\/p>\n

“Upon arrival officers were advised the man had been evicted after allegedly assaulting a staff member,” police said.<\/p>\n
Authorities attempted to speak with Gillmeister and advise him he was under arrest for public nuisance, when it will be alleged, he pushed officers away.<\/p>\n
Police allege he then became involved in a physical struggle with police before being arrested and transported to a Brisbane City Watchhouse.<\/p>\n
He has since been charged with one count each of public nuisance, assault and obstruct police and is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on 2 December.<\/p>\n
Gillmeister made his Queensland State of Origin debut in 1987 and went on to play 22 State of Origin matches.<\/p>\n
