{"id":290906,"date":"2025-11-17T18:35:16","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T18:35:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/290906\/"},"modified":"2025-11-17T18:35:16","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T18:35:16","slug":"scott-mclaughlin-guiding-team-penske-stablemate-austin-cindric-through-supercars-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/290906\/","title":{"rendered":"Scott McLaughlin guiding Team Penske stablemate Austin Cindric through Supercars debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TICKFORD Racing wildcard Austin Cindric has a pretty damn handy resource in his corner as he prepares to make his Repco Supercars Championship debut next week.<\/p>\n<p>That is, the insights of three-time Supercars champion and Team Penske stablemate Scott McLaughlin.<\/p>\n<p>Cindric races for Penske in the NASCAR Cup Series; McLaughlin does so in IndyCar, having left Supercars at the end of 2020 following four mega seasons for DJR Team Penske in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Cindric landed Down Under late last week and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/cindric-reacts-to-first-gen3-supercar-laps\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">today turned his first laps<\/a> in the Gen3 Mustang he\u2019ll race around the streets of Adelaide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has texted me every single day,\u201d the 27-year-old told V8 Sleuth. \u201cI think he is as excited about this as much as I am.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-subscription-issues-1-6?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sleuth-mag-subscription-1-6_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has been really cool, I\u2019ve quizzed him a ton on Adelaide\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s like \u2018man, I\u2019m going to stay up and watch the race, text me after every session. If they let you send me data, send me data, I want to help as much as I can\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s been really cool. Scott is a great teammate, he\u2019s a great mate. He\u2019s a good dude.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cindric also credited NASCAR peer Shane van Gisbergen \u2013 another three-time Supercars champion \u2013 for his willingness to help.<\/p>\n<p>While the American has long kept an eye on Supercars, as evidenced by him having sampled Aussie V8s in the mid-2010s, he agreed that SVG has made the NASCAR scene take notice.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sandown-500-Monday-1-40-of-50-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-241317\"  \/>Austin Cindric. Pic: Mark Walker<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the fact that he is kicking everybody\u2019s arse on road courses makes them more aware of Supercars. That\u2019s the bottom line,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been aware of the championship my whole life and have been a big fan, but within our industry I think you take awareness any time you\u2019re getting beat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way NASCAR works, until you get beat, you don\u2019t change your ways.
