Bon Iver<\/a>\u2019s Justin Vernon has discussed the future of his acclaimed indie project, sharing that this year\u2019s SABLE, fABLE<\/a>\u00a0may very well its last album.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m tapped into the emotion of music \u2014 the blue part,\u201d Vernon explained in a new interview with\u00a0The Times<\/a>. \u201cI have that in me thanks to the thousands of musicians I\u2019ve absorbed, and they\u2019re just in there\u2026 But I don\u2019t know how much is left. I\u2019ve expelled a lot of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI would be very surprised [if there was another Bon Iver album],\u201d Vernon continued. \u201cFor the first time since I was 12, I\u2019m not writing songs. There aren\u2019t any in here,\u201d he said pointing to his heart. \u201cI have been writing since puberty and this is unfamiliar territory \u2014 but I am accepting it. It\u2019s scary sometimes, but I\u2019m just letting it happen \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

SABLE, fABLE\u00a0released in April of this year, marking Bon Iver\u2019s fifth studio album. Poetically, if the record does prove to be the final full-length Bon Iver effort, the tracklist closes out with the song \u201cAu Revoir.\u201d The music video for \u201cDay One\u201d<\/a> also jokingly portrayed Vernon retiring from his position as Bon Iver.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt felt like this might be my last go around,\u201d the artist said later in the interview, speaking on being more present in the album\u2019s promotion. \u201cAnd it\u2019s been a ride \u2014 20 years almost. But it\u2019s interesting. For my whole life I was very romantic. I thought about an awesome wedding, but the idea of one day getting married on a stage and performing my love for people is the last thing I\u2019ll probably ever do \u2014 just because I have got all the attention I need.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Bon Iver may very well never come through with another album, Vernon seems content to continue collaborating with other artists \u2014 at least for now. Just last month, he featured on the new Haim song, \u201cTie You Down.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n
