Credit: SMHSource: FOX SPORTS<\/p>\n<p>DIZZY\u2019S VERDICT ON LIKELY DEBUTANT<\/p>\n<p>Australian cricket legend Jason Gillespie has declared Brendan Doggett is \u201cready to go\u201d with the South Australian quick set to earn a baggy green in the first Ashes Test.<\/p>\n<p>Few know Doggett better than the man affectionately known as \u2018Dizzy\u2019, with Gillespie having resigned from the SACA head coaching role in March 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Doggett, 31, is also set to join only Gillespie and Scott Boland as the only Indigenous mens players to represent Australia at Test level when he is named as the 472nd Test cricketer for his country.<\/p>\n<p>His debut is set to come after a hamstring injury suffered by Josh Hazlewood, who joins Pat Cummins (back) in the casualty ward.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on ABC Radio, Gillespie explained he was confident Doggett had all the attributes needed to excel at Test level alongside Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s one of the quicker bowlers in Australia,\u201d Gillespie said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGot a good motor, he\u2019s a greyhound and is as fit as a fiddle. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s ready to go. Back the next quick who deserves the shot. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut this is exactly the moment Australia didn\u2019t want, and now we get to see how bold they really are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aussies land in Perth ahead of test | 00:34<\/p>\n<p>PM\u2019S XI ANNOUNCED<\/p>\n<p>Australia has unveiled its team for this month\u2019s Prime Minister\u2019s XI match against an England XI in Canberra, with discarded Test opener Sam Konstas headlining the 13-player squad.<\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister\u2019s XI will play a two-day, pink-ball contest against the English at Manuka Oval from November 29, helping the tourists prepare for the following week\u2019s day-night Ashes Test at the Gabba.<\/p>\n<p>Konstas, who missed selection for the Ashes, has been named in the squad alongside fellow young guns Oliver Peake, Charlie Anderson and Hugh Weibgen, while former Test quick Peter Siddle has also earned a surprise call-up.<\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister\u2019s XI will be led by Victorian veteran Peter Handscomb, while South Australian captain Nathan McSweeney has also been named.
