If Brad Marchand<\/a> retired on Nov. 18, he\u2019d be a two-time Stanley Cup champion who has 1,003 points and seven total gold medals at the international level.<\/p>\n

But would that be enough to get the Florida Panthers<\/a> star into the Hockey Hall of Fame?”<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d former NHL forward and current analyst Mike Johnson said on NHL Network<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s not to slight his career. It\u2019s an incredible career. The fact that we\u2019re having a conversation tells you it\u2019s been amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the success Marchand<\/a> has had thus far in 17 NHL seasons, Johnson pointed to the fact that Marchand\u2019s individual success in terms of awards is lacking.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe hasn\u2019t had an individual award that has been solely his. He\u2019s done a lot of winning, hasn\u2019t had Olympics, but he\u2019s had some other international success,\u201d he said<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019s right there. But 1,000 points is not enough to get in.”<\/p>\n

The NHL last allowed players in the Olympics in 2014, but will return in 2026. Marchand<\/a> hasn\u2019t been confirmed as a member of Team Canada for the 2026 Winter Olympics, but he is a strong candidate to make the roster.<\/p>\n

Marchand<\/a> hit the 1,000-point milestone on Nov. 14 on an assist in Florida\u2019s win over the Washington Capitals. While he doesn\u2019t have an MVP, a Selke or an Art Ross trophy, he has an accomplished r\u00e9sum\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Johnson isn\u2019t counting out Marchand as a potential Hall of Famer once his career is done, however.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m saying today, no, talk to me in three years, it\u2019ll be a yes,\u201d he said.<\/a><\/p>\n
