B\ufeffilly Bob Thornton<\/a> has finally clarified a long-standing rumour surrounding his marriage<\/a> to ex Angelina Jolie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was famously rumoured for years \u2013 some may even call it an urban legend \u2013 that the pair wore vials of each other’s blood on a necklace during their relationship.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Now, more than two decades on from their marriage, Thornton, 70, has set the record straight.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Rolling Stone<\/a> in a\ufeff new interview Thornton, said the blood vial necklaces “never existed”.<\/p>\n

But the rumour wasn’t completely false.<\/p>\n

“We each had a little locket, literally with a drop of blood\ufeff in them. That’s a romantic little idea and that’s all that was,” the Landman actor clarified.<\/p>\n

It didn’t take long for the blood vial rumour to take on a life of it’s own, with so much media attention on the famous couple.<\/p>\n

“But by the time it’s over, we’re vampires, we live in a dungeon, we drink each other’s blood and this kind of stuff,” Thornton continued.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the wide-reaching fascination in their relationship, Thornton said “it was weird”.<\/p>\n

“We couldn’t go anywhere. I mean, we did, and then of course we had times when we would say things that became sound bites or whatever,” he said.<\/p>\n

“When we met, I was the more famous one,” he added.<\/p>\n

“And then when we got together, for some reason, the people and the media are very interested in celebrity couples, that seems to be a very popular thing.”<\/p>\n

\ufeffThornton and Jolie were married between 2000 and 2003.<\/p>\n

Now, despite their short-lived marriage, Thornton says he and Jolie remain on good terms.<\/p>\n

“Angelina and I had a great time together,” he told the publication.<\/p>\n

“That was one \ufeffthe greatest times of my life. She and I are still very, very close friends.<\/p>\n

“And that was the one that ended up being a really civilised breakup. We simply split up because our lifestyles were so different.”\ufeff<\/p>\n
