Fijian rugby league is set for a major boost, with the Kaiviti Silktails preparing to launch under-17 and under-19 teams to complement their existing under-21s in the New South Wales Rugby League’s age-grade competitions.<\/p>\n

According to ABC, the move will aim to strengthen the development pipeline for Fiji’s rising rugby league talent, providing a clearer pathway from junior level to professional ranks.<\/p>\n

It also follows recent calls from Fiji<\/a> national coach Wise Kativerata<\/a>, who highlighted the need for stronger grassroots and junior systems after the Bati’s heavy Pacific Championships defeat to Papua New Guinea<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the long term, officials hope the Silktails can also earn a spot in the NSW Cup<\/a>, the second-tier senior competition directly below the NRL<\/a>, giving Fijian players a consistent, high-level platform to showcase their abilities.<\/p>\n

The expansion represents a significant investment in the future of Fijian rugby league and could play a vital role in ensuring the next generation of Pacific talent is nurtured from home soil.<\/p>\n
