TRIPLE Eight is officially pulling out of both the Dunlop Super2 and GT4 Australia series in 2026.<\/p>\n

In addition to changing over to Ford and leading the Blue Oval\u2019s charge as far as being its new Supercars homologation team, Triple Eight is also establishing an in-house engine program and is expanding to running three Mustangs on a full-time basis.<\/p>\n

That all has come at the price of needing to scale back its activities outside of the Repco Supercars Championship \u2013 at least for now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is confirmed, yes,\u201d managing director Jamie Whincup<\/a> told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust with so much going on next year, we\u2019ve decided to make sure we don\u2019t run ourselves too thin and therefore we won\u2019t be competing in Super2 or GT4.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we will look to get back into Super2 as soon as Gen3 is eligible and we\u2019re very much hoping that\u2019s 2027, so we would only have 12 months out and then we\u2019re back in again.\u201d<\/p>\n

The topic of when that transition happens has been hotly debated, with many others pushing for a 2028 changeover.<\/p>\n

Triple Eight had only just returned to Super2 this year, running two ZB Commodores for Jackson Walls<\/a> and Ben Gomersall<\/a>. Walls will graduate to the main game next year<\/a> via the SCT entry which is coming to Banyo from Brad Jones Racing.<\/p>\n

Triple Eight has thrice won the Super2 title, with Andrew Thompson in 2011, Broc Feeney in 2021 and Declan Fraser<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"TRIPLE Eight is officially pulling out of both the Dunlop Super2 and GT4 Australia series in 2026.
