Stephen Curry and the Warriors have played in a league-high 12 road games so far this season.<\/p>\n

MIAMI (AP) \u2014 Stephen Curry\u2019s road trip is ending a game early, with the Golden State Warriors deciding to hold the NBA\u2019s all-time 3-point leader out of Wednesday night\u2019s game in Miami against the Heat.<\/p>\n

Also out for Golden State: Jimmy Butler, in what would have been his second game\u00a0back in Miami after last season\u2019s trade<\/a>,\u00a0and Draymond Green, among others.<\/p>\n

Curry is sitting out with right ankle soreness. He tweaked the ankle in\u00a0a game Friday at San Antonio\u00a0and did it again Tuesday in a game at Orlando, but was able to keep playing in both of those contests.<\/p>\n

The matchup is the finale of a six-game, nine-day trip for the Warriors, who are 3-2 on the trip going into Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Al Horford (left toe injury management) and Jonathan Kuminga (knee tendinitis) are also out for Golden State against Miami, as are Butler (back) and Green (illness). Buddy Hield, who has been dealing with an illness, was listed as questionable before being upgraded to available.<\/p>\n

The Warriors are hoping Curry, Butler, Green and Horford can play Friday at home against Portland. All are considered day-to-day.<\/p>\n

Warriors coach Steve Kerr has pointed out multiple times that such a long trip is tough enough, yet this one was made tougher because the jammed schedule didn\u2019t provide his team an opportunity to practice.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all know what the schedule\u2019s been like and I know coach talked about it \u2026 we try not to think about it too much knowing it is what it is,\u201d Curry said after Tuesday night\u2019s\u00a0loss in Orlando<\/a>. \u201cYou have to find a way to overcome it. We\u2019ve done a decent job, we let (two) games slide that we feel like we wish we would have had, but we\u2019re all right right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wednesday\u2019s game will be Golden State\u2019s 17th in 30 days to start the season and 12th on the road, both of which are league-highs. Toronto was playing its 10th road game on Wednesday and some teams have played as few as five away from home; New York was playing its fifth away game of the season Wednesday in Dallas.<\/p>\n

Kerr has long been a proponent of shortening the schedule to 72 games and \u2014 like many others \u2014 has applauded the league for moves it has made in scheduling in recent years, like eliminating the long-dreaded runs of four games in five nights. He knows his 72-game quest will almost certainly never happen, but times like these fuel his argument for more rest or practice days.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just think if we\u2019re actually focused on the product, it would be great,\u201d Kerr said. \u201cWe literally have not had a single practice on this road trip, not one. We\u2019ve been gone a week, or longer, eight days, not one practice, because it\u2019s just game, game, game. So, not only is there no recovery time, there\u2019s no practice time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe league has done a great job of trying to protect players by not overloading the schedule with four (games) in five nights,\u201d Kerr continued. \u201cBut now it\u2019s basically we\u2019re playing every other night and the flip side of that is we\u2019re not getting any practice time. And the wear and tear is there anyway, because it\u2019s the accumulation of all those games and the speed and the pace and mileage and everything else.\u201d<\/p>\n
