Watt is quickly filling a niche as a man of the people within NFL media.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/awfulannouncing.com\/nfl\/jj-watt-slams-pff-player-grades.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fresh off a campaign<\/a> against the use of Pro Football Focus player grades on\u00a0Sunday Night Football broadcasts, Watt is turning his attention toward an even more hot-button issue.<\/p>\n<p>The NFL on Wednesday moved to halt the release of team report cards by the NFLPA, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/46953218\/nfl-filed-grievance-nflpa-stop-report-cards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">reportedly filing a grievance against the union<\/a>. And Watt was furious at the double standard it illustrated, which is coming from ownership around the league.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy do they not have issues with Pro Bowl voting, award voting, all of that?\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PhI8zlQjQFc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Watt questioned on The Pat McAfee Show<\/a>. \u201cBecause I know that guys go in there and one rookie fills them out for the whole group, or the PR person fills them out. But they\u2019re fine with that. Nobody\u2019s ever questioned any of those things. According to ESPN\u2019s Don Van Natta Jr., the league is claiming the practice violates a clause in the NFL\u2019s collective bargaining agreement designed to \u201ccurtail\u201d critical public comments about the league or its teams.<\/p>\n<p>The NFLPA is reportedly moving forward with this year\u2019s survey despite the grievance. The league wants to replace report cards with previously approved surveys jointly conducted by the league and the union, which reportedly fell off in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>Watt believes the players\u2019 right to make their voices heard is essential. While he acknowledged that the contents of the report cards can make teams look bad, he felt similarly disrespected as a player when team reps leaked information, such as news of his heart condition in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The problem is not the specifics of the surveys conducted, Watt said, but teams\u2019 resistance to improvement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey don\u2019t want to spend money, they don\u2019t want to get it right,\u201d he said. \u201cI get very frustrated when there\u2019s one little thing that the players have, finally, to voice their opinion on what\u2019s going on in the building, and now that thing is being suppressed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t<script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"J.J.
