It takes, frankly, a special r\u00e9sum\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>But that&#8217;s what <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"c845c06f-f087-b63d-1bcc-8013bd715b59\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/12\/arizona-wildcats\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Arizona<\/a> has accomplished through the first five games of its season, following Wednesday&#8217;s true road win over <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"c7561e25-c7f2-5ddd-4191-899a98236d54\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/41\/uconn-huskies\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UConn<\/a>. Tommy Lloyd&#8217;s team now has wins over <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"266eb980-22c9-0835-bd93-a52b46a28112\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/57\/florida-gators\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Florida<\/a>, <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"90520a70-9714-8c22-a25d-f33f79c455a2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/26\/ucla-bruins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UCLA<\/a> and UConn, all away from home. According to ESPN Research, the Wildcats are just the third team in AP Poll history to have multiple wins over top-three opponents in their first five games of the season &#8212; and the first since <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"83fb6648-677a-1a40-715d-5fa16287399a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/2305\/kansas-jayhawks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kansas<\/a> did it in the 1989-90 season.<\/p>\n<p>Editor&#8217;s Picks<\/p>\n<p>2 Related<\/p>\n<p>The Wildcats have the most ranked wins in the country and the most impressive catalog of wins away from home, and they&#8217;ve shown the ability to beat teams playing different styles and with different players carrying the load.<\/p>\n<p><a data-clubhouse-guid=\"0abd1640-6f95-275f-418a-652659452398\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/2509\/purdue-boilermakers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Purdue<\/a> will look to boost its own profile and regain its perch atop the sport in December when it faces <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"f95491d2-1351-f35e-9df6-6442f649f803\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/66\/iowa-state-cyclones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Iowa State<\/a> and <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"381c82ac-22fb-e25c-879f-496fd0ca8f10\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/2\/auburn-tigers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Auburn<\/a>, while Arizona has contests against Auburn and <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"0d3ed777-864d-a02d-4534-fc7de7009a46\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/333\/alabama-crimson-tide\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alabama<\/a> on back-to-back weekends. <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"54bdd306-18e1-1f5b-179e-07fed4ac64bd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/248\/houston-cougars\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston<\/a> could also make an argument for the top spot if it wins the Players Era Festival next week in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>For now, though, Arizona&#8217;s impressive collection of early wins gives the Wildcats the edge for No. 1.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1761135608_840__end_rule.png\" width=\"100%\"\/><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/>Led by Jaden Bradley, Arizona is just the third team in AP poll history to have multiple wins over top-3 opponents in its first five games of the season, per ESPN Research.\u00a0AP Photo\/Jessica Hill<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1763648110_987_12.png&#038;w=110&#038;h=110.png\" width=\"30\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Previous ranking: 4<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/gn-arrow.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p><a data-player-guid=\"df9228a1-a5fd-36fe-a616-0955a706678f\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mens-college-basketball\/player\/_\/id\/4432737\/jaden-bradley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jaden Bradley<\/a> developing into one of the best point guards in the country has been arguably the biggest game-changer in Arizona&#8217;s terrific start to the season. He took over late in the wins over Florida and UCLA, scoring 10 straight and 7 straight points, respectively. Kaufman-Renn was integral in last week&#8217;s win at Alabama (19 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists), then was again the most productive player on the floor against Akron (17 points, 15 rebounds). He&#8217;s averaging 17.3 points and 5.3 assists, shooting 40% from 3-point range, and went for 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in Sunday&#8217;s win over Auburn. Alabama is ahead of schedule. <a data-player-guid=\"cfb791fa-337f-32a3-8693-c7b5cb4eaec4\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mens-college-basketball\/player\/_\/id\/4873090\/labaron-philon-jr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Labaron Philon Jr<\/a>. bounced back from his up-and-down performance against Purdue to finish with 24 points, 5 assists and just 1 turnover, constantly putting Illinois&#8217; ball-screen defense in problematic situations. And the X factor for Nate Oats&#8217; team Wednesday was Tarleton State transfer <a data-player-guid=\"80d2a20f-ff2d-3930-a1c7-acaa7776f5c6\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mens-college-basketball\/player\/_\/id\/5241440\/keitenn-bristow\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Keitenn Bristow<\/a>, who missed the first three games of the season with an ankle injury. The Huskies also struggled to prevent BYU from getting to the offensive glass in Saturday&#8217;s win against the Cougars, and are sub-200 nationally in offensive rebounding percentage. Alabama scored more than 1.14 points per possession and created issues with its ball-screen actions throughout the game.
