How to follow Oscar Piastri during the F1 grand prix in Las Vegas

Oscar Piastri enters the third-last grand prix of the season further away from the drivers’ championship lead than he has been all year.

Norris, who holds a 24-point lead over Piastri in the drivers’ championship, set the fastest lap of the McLaren duo with a 1:35.258 to be sixth fastest overall.

Piastri was eighth fastest, more than two-tenths behind Norris with a 1:35.450.

Piastri and Norris drove with different rear wings for the first session, as McLaren tried to find the optimum set-up for the tricky Las Vegas track.

Despite finishing as the faster McLaren driver, Norris had a disjointed session on the Las Vegas Strip.

Piastri had a skinnier rear wing to Norris, trying to reduce drag on the high-speed street track.

The British driver went off track multiple times, and even brushed the wall midway through the session.

More consequential for Norris was losing time in the pits as McLaren investigated a potential issue with the floor of his car.

But the championship appeared to finish the session with no issues.

The second one-hour practice session in Las Vegas will be held 3pm, AEDT.

ABC Sport will have a live blog of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix on Sunday, November 23, with the race beginning at 3pm AEDT.
