Seventeen of them hold at least a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/46139564\/2025-nfl-playoff-picture-afc-nfc-seed-predictions-odds-super-bowl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">40% chance<\/a> to make it to the postseason, according to ESPN&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/fpi\/_\/view\/projections\/sort\/projections.probmakeplayoffs\/dir\/desc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Football Power Index<\/a> (FPI). The other 15 franchises &#8212; including six with two or fewer wins &#8212; might already be shifting their focus to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nfl\/nfl-free-agency\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">free agency<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/draft\/news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">draft<\/a>, where they&#8217;ll address roster holes and make offseason improvements. But where are the weaknesses?<\/p>\n<p>We called on our NFL reporters and analysts to take an early look at the biggest offseason needs for all 32 teams, starting with NFL analyst Aaron Schatz picking out two positions that need upgrades for each roster. Then our NFL Nation reporters named pending free agents to watch, and draft experts Matt Miller and Jordan Reid found prospects who could fit with each organization.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start with the Cardinals and go in alphabetical order. href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4870992\/jalen-thompson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jalen Thompson<\/a> will be a free agent, so how much do the Cardinals believe in fourth-rounder <a data-player-guid=\"ae45ba25-9225-b3e4-e534-a8ae3e9e5183\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4428633\/dadrion-taylor-demerson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dadrion Taylor-Demerson<\/a>? And the right side of the offensive line could use help, as right tackle <a data-player-guid=\"06fad799-6dab-3b2f-9b8f-1ed6f002b97a\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/5141717\/jonah-williams\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jonah Williams<\/a> and right guard <a data-player-guid=\"74bb97fc-7103-3dd0-a79a-84cbabee2bd6\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/5230131\/will-hernandez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Hernandez<\/a> will both be free agents. &#8212; Schatz<\/p>\n<p>Editor&#8217;s Picks<\/p>\n<p>2 Related<\/p>\n<p>Pending free agent to watch: Williams. The right tackle has played in 15 of 27 games in his two seasons with the Cardinals thus far, which makes his $12.8 million salary this season a bit of an overvalue. His injury history could cause Arizona to move on. &#8212; Josh Weinfuss<\/p>\n<p>One draft prospect who could help: <a data-player-guid=\"337af4a5-e2e6-3240-a995-6ecc36c23239\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4870723\/spencer-fano\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spencer Fano<\/a>, OT, Utah. The Cardinals don&#8217;t have a long-term plan at right tackle. Fano could step right in and become a plug-and-play starter for Arizona&#8217;s offense. &#8212; Reid<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1763726112_625_atl.png\" width=\"31\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Chance to make playoffs: 1%<br \/>Projected first-round draft slot: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/44844415\/falcons-boost-d-trade-pearce-pick-walker-nfl-draft\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">None<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Biggest positional needs: Tight end and defensive line. It&#8217;s time for the Falcons to decide what to do with <a data-player-guid=\"7290d27f-bdc5-21fe-0800-c4ae5597cd34\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4360248\/kyle-pitts-sr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Pitts Sr<\/a>. in the long run, as his rookie contract comes to an end. Meanwhile, the Falcons are second in DVOA against the pass but 27th against the run; they are 31st in stuffing running backs for a loss or no gain. &#8212; Schatz<\/p>\n<p>Pending free agent to watch: Pitts. He has not fulfilled the potential many thought he had coming out of college, nor has he duplicated his 1,000-yard rookie season. But he has been solid in 2025, with the sixth-most receptions (47) and 10th-most receiving yards (434) among tight ends. Will that be enough to justify a franchise tag or extension? Probably not, as the team has many other needs. Pitts said in training camp that he planned on waiting until after the season to sort out his future. &#8212; Marc Raimondi<\/p>\n<p>One draft prospect who could help: <a data-player-guid=\"6aaeb95b-3635-3dbf-9f32-0e7c1a4736eb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4871063\/peter-woods\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Peter Woods<\/a>, DT, Clemson. The Falcons invested heavily at Edge in the 2025 draft, selecting <a data-player-guid=\"046f3cb8-d17d-3fc5-b2b6-82615dadde28\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4685597\/jalon-walker\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jalon Walker<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"87402464-c2ff-30bc-8742-23aaaf9ba9ba\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/5081394\/james-pearce-jr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">James Pearce Jr<\/a>. in the first round, but the middle of the defense needs an anchor who can also impact the pocket. Woods is the preeminent defensive tackle in the 2026 class and has three-down ability from a 3-technique alignment. &#8212; Miller<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1763726113_80_bal.png\" width=\"31\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Chance to make playoffs: 63%<br \/>Projected first-round draft slot: No. 20<\/p>\n<p>Biggest positional needs: Safety and edge rusher. <a data-player-guid=\"e2d12236-a437-3499-fa6d-a930b63e08b3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4039413\/alohi-gilman\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alohi Gilman<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"b203dfad-f667-eb76-3c06-47409a50c4ba\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4362492\/ardarius-washington\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ar&#8217;Darius Washington<\/a> (who was originally supposed to be in that spot before an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/45134871\/source-ravens-ardarius-washington-suffers-torn-achilles\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">offseason injury<\/a>) are free agents in 2026. And while <a data-player-guid=\"8e7ca22f-9fd7-3e99-8411-d65a5f6643c6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4683188\/mike-green\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Green<\/a> was a good addition to the D-line, the Ravens need more youth there, especially with <a data-player-guid=\"8a28bb7f-d7c4-94d0-a6e2-258deeac6377\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/16772\/kyle-van-noy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Van Noy<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"d8e71e13-615c-ba70-1b8d-27d6b35da809\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4426507\/david-ojabo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David Ojabo<\/a> hitting free agency. &#8212; Schatz<\/p>\n<p>Pending free agent to watch: <a data-player-guid=\"4dc51a6c-8f23-5c8a-2559-96cec58d5a8a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4360499\/tyler-linderbaum\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Linderbaum<\/a>, C. General manager Eric DeCosta said it&#8217;s the team&#8217;s intention to sign Linderbaum to a long-term deal since declining his fifth-year option in April. With disappointing play at both guard spots, <a data-player-guid=\"7d76fbb1-1c5e-d9f4-954f-cad43f720ae2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/3916387\/lamar-jackson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lamar Jackson<\/a> and the Ravens would be in a tough spot if they don&#8217;t bring back Linderbaum. They would likely need to make him the league&#8217;s highest-paid center, though, which means exceeding <a data-player-guid=\"b72b611b-7a51-d8f1-1a80-02d8ecc6d30a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4241385\/creed-humphrey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Creed Humphrey<\/a>&#8216;s $18 million per season with the Chiefs. &#8212; Jamison Hensley<\/p>\n<p>One draft prospect who could help: <a data-player-guid=\"a162ba2b-49f9-38fd-bf41-c35fb51f49c9\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4918136\/quincy-rhodes-jr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Quincy Rhodes Jr<\/a>., Edge, Arkansas. At 6-foot-6, 275 pounds, Rhodes fits what the Ravens want on the edge, as he&#8217;s strong against the run and continuing to ascend as a pass rusher. Rhodes has broken out this season, with eight sacks after having only one in his first two college seasons. &#8212; Reid<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1763726113_87_buf.png\" width=\"31\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Chance to make playoffs: 81%<br \/>Projected first-round draft slot: No. 25<\/p>\n<p>Biggest positional needs: Edge rusher and wide receiver. <a data-player-guid=\"591c8883-7eb1-633e-5283-7bfbb9dbf51e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/3051389\/joey-bosa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joey Bosa<\/a> is on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/44402852\/buffalo-bills-add-joey-bosa-larry-ogunjobi-defensive-line-questions-remain-2025\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">one-year deal<\/a>, and <a data-player-guid=\"eae38ef4-2f99-0603-0c8d-35c36f013667\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4240585\/aj-epenesa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AJ Epenesa<\/a> will see his contract void as well. The pound-for-pound best player in college football, Reese is this season&#8217;s version of the Micah Parsons or <a data-player-guid=\"df4ecbf0-8676-3fbd-8563-25721d12b4ba\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4725996\/abdul-carter\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Abdul Carter<\/a> prospect who will transition to edge rusher in the NFL. He&#8217;s a blur off the line of scrimmage and a powerhouse for offensive tackles to handle. Samuel has a team-high 53 receptions (37 more than the next receiver), 470 yards and five touchdowns. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/46639083\/commanders-rule-deebo-samuel-top-3-wrs-vs-cowboys\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bruised heel<\/a> caused him to miss one game, but Washington lacks quality receiver depth and a return for Samuel would make sense. The question is at what cost?
