{"id":299682,"date":"2025-11-21T17:27:05","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T17:27:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/299682\/"},"modified":"2025-11-21T17:27:05","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T17:27:05","slug":"washington-adds-emil-herstad-to-2025-26-roster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/299682\/","title":{"rendered":"Washington Adds Emil Herstad To 2025-26 Roster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SEATTLE \u2013 Washington men&#8217;s golf head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/coaches\/alan-murray\/6061\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"6061\" target=\"_blank\">Alan Murray<\/a> has announced the addition of Emil Herstad, who will join the Huskies in January.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHerstad makes his way to Montlake from Nittedal, Norway where he attended Wang Toppidrett Romerike.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;We are really looking forward to Emil coming on board,&#8221; Murray said. &#8220;He is a really talented player and he works hard on his game. He has represented his country, Norway, at both junior and senior level and he has a good pedigree.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThis past October, Herstad represented Norway at the Eisenhower Trophy in Singapore.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;Washington offered me a good schedule with a great team and facilities,&#8221; Herstad said. &#8220;As well as the good coaches of Murray and (Chris) Babcock.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHerstad won the 2025 National Junior Strokeplay championship by seven strokes and was the 2023 National Junior Match Play championship. In July, he won the NextUp Invitational in a playoff, where he got to play alongside PGA Tour professional Viktor Hovland in the show match.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;He is a superb ball striker and he will adjust well to college golf,&#8221; Murray added. &#8220;We have been really impressed by his calm, measured approach to the game combined with his work ethic. Emil is quiet at first but is a really funny, engaging kid. We have a pretty cohesive group this year and he will mesh well with the guys.
