\n Dolly Parton<\/a> has had to miss two significant ceremonies as she continues to follow her doctors\u2019 orders amid some \u201chealth challenges.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n The legendary singer, songwriter and entrepreneur, 79, was unable to attend her recent induction into the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions\u2019 Hall of Fame. That organization and Parton\u2019s Dollywood shared the video<\/a> she sent instead on social media earlier this week.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI sure wish I could be with you in person today, but you probably heard that I\u2019ve been dealing with a few health challenges this fall, and my doctors told me to take it easy for just a little while,\u201d she said in the video. \u201cI\u2019m truly sorry I can\u2019t be there, but I sure wanted to take the chance to say thank you for this incredible honor.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n It happened a day after Parton also skipped picking up her honorary Oscar at the 16th annual Academy Governors Awards<\/a>.\n <\/p>\n

\n Social media has been the \u201cJolene\u201d singer\u2019s mode of communication and how she has shared recent updates in the wake of fans\u2019 concerns about her health.\n <\/p>\n

\n In September, Parton postponed a series of planned December concerts in Las Vegas<\/a>, citing \u201chealth challenges.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n The following month she felt compelled to again address those health challenges after her sister, Freida Parton, inadvertently caused a panic after she posted that she had been \u201cup all night praying for my sister, Dolly.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n Dolly Parton consequently posted a video of herself, in full glam,<\/a> explaining that she was ok, just dealing with some health issues.\n <\/p>\n

\n Since the death of her husband, Carl Dean, in March<\/a>, she had \u201clet a lot of things go that I should\u2019ve been taking care of.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cSo, anyway, when I got around to it, the doctor said, \u2018We need to take care of this, we need to take care of that,\u2019\u201d she said at the time. \u201cNothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n Parton and Dean were married for almost 60 years.\n <\/p>\n
