Rumer Willis, who has a 2-year-old daughter, Louetta, said Bruce is \u201cdoing okay\u201d amid his battle with the progressive disease \u2013 a group of brain disorders affecting personality, behaviour, and language.<\/p>\n
When asked how her dad was doing, she replied: \u201cPeople always ask me this question, and I think it\u2019s kind of a hard one to answer, because the truth is that anybody with FTD is not doing great.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s doing okay, in terms of somebody who is dealing with frontotemporal dementia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe only way that I feel like I could answer that in a way that was like, \u2018He\u2019s doing great!\u2019 … You know, it\u2019s like, those parameters don\u2019t really work anymore I guess, in my mind, so this is always an interesting question.\u201d<\/p>\n
Last month, Bruce\u2019s wife Emma Heming Willis admitted she and the Armageddon actor were left with a bleak situation when he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.<\/p>\n
She told Yahoo!: \u201cThe day we received the diagnosis, we walked out of that appointment with nothing \u2013 no hope, no direction, no support. I wasn\u2019t really given any information other than just the nuts and bolts of FTD.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn looking back, I just think that\u2019s so crazy. It was such a traumatic experience, like your whole life is being ripped from you in a moment.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter that appointment, I started digging into research online to really understand: What was this diagnosis? How does it impact my husband? How does it impact our family? With FTD, those early years are so hard because you\u2019re trying to figure it all out in real time and learning things on the fly. It\u2019s a progressive disease.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, in the beginning, your person can still manage some things, and then slowly the needs start changing and the things that they used to be able to do they can\u2019t do anymore.
