It seems the Lakers will add a new two-way player to their roster, signing Drew Timme.<\/p>\n
The Lakers already have all three of their two-way spots filled, so someone will have to be dropped to make room for him.<\/p>\n
Brett Siegel of Clutch Points was the first to report on this development. He states that the Lakers will not be cutting Nick Smith Jr., meaning that either Christian Koloko or Chris Ma\u00f1on will no longer be on a two-way contract.<\/p>\n
This is still not a done deal and things can obviously change. However, based on Siegel\u2019s reporting, it seems Timme being a two-way Laker is currently the most likely outcome.<\/p>\n
Timme has played very well with the South Bay Lakers. He was recently named the G League\u2019s Player of the Week after averaging 30 points 7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.<\/p>\n
Timme played college ball at Gonzaga and has played in the G League since 2023.<\/p>\n
Last year, he was named to the All-NBA G League Second Team as a member of the Stockton Kings, Sacramento\u2019s G League affiliate.<\/p>\n
He averaged 11.9 points and 6.2 rebounds last season at Stockton. As an offensive big man, he can provide some size and scoring ability for the Lakers and could be a nice player to have ready in case Deandre Ayton or Jaxson Hayes miss time.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ll see who the Lakers drop to make room for Timme. So far, Koloko and Ma\u00f1on have played in only two Laker games and those were essentially just garbage-time shifts.<\/p>\n
If the Lakers want two bigs on two-ways, then perhaps Ma\u00f1on is on his way out.
