Currently 24 points clear of his teammate Oscar Piastri and 49 ahead of four-time reigning champion Max Verstappen, the Brit has won the past two grand prix and time is fast running out for his rivals to catch him this season.<\/p>\n
Counting against both Norris and Piastri is history in Las Vegas\u2014since the race was first held in 2023 McLaren\u2019s best finish for either driver was a modest sixth by Norris in 2024.<\/p>\n
Having lost his championship lead last month in Texas, Australia\u2019s Oscar Piastri goes into the third-last weekend of the F1 season needing a major change of fortunes, having failed to finish ahead of Norris since August 31\u2014almost three months.<\/p>\n
Max Verstappen has been driving brilliantly in the latter stages of the season, but will likely need Norris to drop serious points if he\u2019s to be a realistic chance of closing the championship gap by Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n
