Former Masters champion Sergio Garcia is set to welcome back a former LIV Golf<\/a> teammate to his side, according to a report.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Per Spanish outlet TenGolf, the former Masters champion will have Luis Masaveu back on his roster for the 2026 campaign.<\/p>\n

The deal would reportedly see Abraham Ancer heading to Joaquin Niemann’s Torque GC to replace the relegated Mito Pereira.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Masaveu, 22, joined Garcia’s Fireballs team in January but was replaced halfway through the season with reigning US Amateur champion Josele Ballester.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ballester grabbed his first win<\/a> as a professional over the weekend at the PIF Saudi International.\u00a0<\/p>\n

No explanation was given as to why Masaveu was replaced, but it has been reported that he was on a “half-season contract”. He played the remainder of the season as a wildcard.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Should the trade happen, it would mean Garcia’s side will be made up of four Spanish players. The highly-rated David Puig is the fourth member of the Fireballs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The news comes weeks after reports suggested LIV Golf could be adding two new teams and rebranding one if its existing sides ahead of the 2026 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to trademark filings, LIV Golf Inc have asked for the names Becko East GC, Southern Balindi GC and Real Club De Toros GC to become ratified.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is understood the latter relates to Garcia’s team.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Should the new teams be given the go ahead, it would take LIV’s total number of sides up to 15, notwithstanding the two wildcard players.\u00a0<\/p>\n

More teams and deeper fields will undoubtedly help with LIV Golf’s renewed bid to be accredited by the sports global rankings body.\u00a0<\/p>\n

LIV have also announced that they have abandoned their 54-hole format in favour four-day events in 2026, putting them in line with the established tours.\u00a0<\/p>\n

LIV Golf have only made one signing for the 2026 season, with three-time DP World Tour winner Victor Perez joining<\/a> Martin Kaymer’s side.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There is speculation that England’s Laurie Canter will give up<\/a> promotion to the PGA Tour<\/a> in favour of a return to LIV Golf, according to Sports Business Journal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
