Donald Glover, who performs under the name Childish Gambino<\/a>, has revealed he had a stroke last year which forced him to cancel world tour dates.<\/p>\n

At the time the 42-year-old said he was dealing with an \u201cailment\u201d<\/a> after performing in New Orleans and had gone to a hospital in Houston, where he discovered he needed surgery. He subsequently postponed, then entirely cancelled<\/a> the remainder of his US tour, as well as all of his UK, European and Australian dates, writing: \u201cUnfortunately, my path to recovery is taking longer than expected.\u201d<\/p>\n

While performing at Tyler, the Creator\u2019s Camp Flog Gnaw festival in Los Angeles on Saturday night, Glover told the audience that he\u2019d had a stroke.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was doing this world tour,\u201d he said. \u201cI was having lots of fun, really loving seeing you guys out there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana and I did the show anyway. I couldn\u2019t really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital and the doctor was like, \u2018You had a stroke.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the first thing I thought was like, \u2018Oh, here I am still copying Jamie Foxx,\u2019\u201d he joked, referring to Foxx\u2019s stroke in 2023<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s really like the second thing. The first thing was like, \u2018I\u2019m letting everybody down.\u2019 I know it\u2019s not true.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glover also revealed that he had broken one of his feet, then doctors found a hole in his heart, which required him to undergo surgery twice.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey say everybody has two lives and the second life starts when you realise you have one,\u201d Glover said. \u201cYou got one life, guys, and I gotta be honest, the life I\u2019ve lived with you guys has been such a blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glover, who has won five Grammy awards, has retired his Childish Gambino stage name after releasing his final album, Bando Stone & the New World.
