The bassist of a beloved Australian group<\/a> has died.<\/p>\n

While his exact age has not been confirmed, he is believed to have been in his sixties.<\/p>\n

The Daily Mail reports<\/a> that Ian Lees \u2014 whose name many might recognize from the Sydney, New South Wales-formed rock band Moving Pictures \u2014 died on Sunday following a heart attack. <\/p>\n

According to News.com.au<\/a>, Lees played on Moving Pictures\u2019s smash hit single \u201cWhat About Me (1982).\u201d His death comes just a couple of weeks before he was scheduled to go on tour with Australian country musician Melinda Schneider. <\/p>\n

\u201cSuch a beautiful man, love you forever,\u201d reads a post published<\/a> to the Moving Pictures Facebook page. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe was my all-time favorite man to tour with and play in a live band with, his jokes in the car and the mountain of space he laid out for me to play on top of (lead guitar) was something that only Ian could do,\u201d comments Moving Pictures member Mick Lockhart. \u201cI\u2019ll miss his face, I\u2019ll miss his genuine real conversations and I\u2019ll miss his music.<\/p>\n

\u201cR.I.P. my friend, you will sadly, sadly missed mate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIan David Lees: forever and ever my friend, and just quietly the world\u2019s greatest bass player,\u201d reads another post<\/a> from Moving Pictures vocalist Alex Smith. \u201cI love you, mate.\u201d <\/p>\n

News.com.au notes how Schneider launched a GoFundMe page<\/a> following Lees\u2019s death for his wife, Meny, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer two months ago. Over $28,000 out of the page\u2019s $45,000 goal has been reached as of the publishing of this report.<\/p>\n
