Lee Dixon<\/a> \u2018cannot believe\u2019 one of Mikel Arteta<\/a>\u2019s summer signings agreed to join Arsenal<\/a> and says he is \u2018never going to play\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Gunners spent around \u00a3250m on new players last summer to bolster an Arsenal squad that finished second in the Premier League<\/a> for the past three seasons.<\/p>\n

The heavy investment has certainly had the desired effect with Arteta\u2019s side moving six points clear at the top of the Premier League<\/a> and enjoying a perfect start to the Champions League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Martin Zubimendi<\/a> has made a huge impact since his \u00a360m move from Real Sociedad<\/a> while fellow summer signing Eberechi Eze<\/a> scored a hat-trick in Sunday\u2019s north London derby against Tottenham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera have all shown signs they will prove to be shrewd additions at the Emirates Stadium.<\/p>\n

But Dixon was left baffled by Kepa\u00a0Arrizabalaga\u2019s move to Arsenal and says he \u2018cannot believe\u2019 the most expensive goalkeeper in history agreed to become David Raya\u2019s deputy.<\/p>\n

Chelsea spent a record-breaking \u00a372m on Arrizabalaga\u00a0in 2018<\/a> but he largely underwhelmed at Stamford Bridge and lost his place in the team.<\/p>\n

The Spain international had loan spells at Real Madrid and Bournemouth before completing a \u00a35m move to Arsenal last summer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His game-time in north London always looked limited given Raya\u2019s status as one of the best goalkeepers in the world<\/a> and Arrizabalaga\u00a0has made just two appearances this season, both coming in the Carabao Cup.<\/p>\n

Asked whether the 31-year-old shot-stopper made a mistake joining Arsenal, Gunners legend Dixon told Metro on behalf of OLBG<\/a>: \u2018Yeah, I couldn\u2019t believe he came.<\/p>\n

\u2018You would need to ask him what his reasons were because I don\u2019t know. I don\u2019t know why you would, at his stage of his career, make that decision.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019s never going to play. He\u2019s only going to play if David Raya gets injured. So why would you want to do that?<\/p>\n

\u2018I guess all players are different and he might have a different mindset. There might be something going on personally that he needs to be settled in the area, I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

\u2018But from a football point of view, it didn\u2019t make any sense to me whatsoever.\u2019<\/p>\n

At the time of his move from Chelsea, Arrizabalaga\u00a0was hailed as the \u2018best value signing of the summer\u2019 by Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shaun Wright-Phillips, meanwhile, questioned Chelsea\u2019s decision to sell Arrizabalaga<\/a>\u00a0given Enzo Maresca\u2019s goalkeeping issues at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

Robert Sanchez remains Maresca\u2019s No. 1 at Chelsea despite making several errors and attracting criticism from a number of pundits<\/a> over the past 12 months.<\/p>\n

Discussing his move to Arsenal, Arrizabalaga\u00a0said: \u201cI\u2019m really, really happy to be here, really excited and looking forward to what is coming.<\/p>\n

\u2018The ambition that is shown in this club, when I talk with Mikel [Arteta] and Inaki [Cana], how much they show me their desire to win\u2026 I think we are so close to winning and, hopefully, altogether, we can achieve it.\u2019<\/p>\n

Speaking last month, Arrizabalaga\u00a0also revealed he spoke to Arsenal star and ex-Chelsea forward Kai Havertz ahead of his move across London<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018In the first month or so you have to settle into the surroundings, off the pitch as well if you have family, but I\u2019m used to this,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

\u2018Also we have had a few new players this summer, so we can all share our thoughts on some of the new situations for us.<\/p>\n

\u2018There are some Spanish players that I know from the national team, and that\u2019s really good, especially in the first week.<\/p>\n

\u2018I knew Kai as well; he\u2019s been a big supporter for me. We chatted a lot during the summer.<\/p>\n

\u2018He was on holiday with [Arsenal captain] Martin Odegaard so we had that time to chat and share our thoughts about things.\u2019<\/p>\n

Following an emphatic north London derby win over Spurs, Arsenal\u2019s attentions now turn to the Champions League and a huge clash with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Arsenal and Bayern are two of only three teams with a perfect record in Europe after four group games<\/a>.<\/p>\n
