{"id":307698,"date":"2025-11-25T12:37:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T12:37:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/307698\/"},"modified":"2025-11-25T12:37:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T12:37:08","slug":"tadhg-beirne-named-in-world-rugby-team-of-the-year-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/307698\/","title":{"rendered":"Tadhg Beirne named in World Rugby team of the year \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/ireland-rugby\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/ireland-rugby\">Ireland<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tadhg-beirne\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tadhg-beirne\">Tadhg Beirne<\/a> has been named in the World Rugby Team of the Year for the second year running.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Munster secondrow is the only Irish player named in the side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Beirne has had a superb season and was already honoured as the Ireland Rugby Writers player of the year, as well as the Lions player of the series during the recent tour in Australia. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/springboks\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/springboks\">South Africa<\/a> dominated the team with six players, headlined by World Player of the Year Malcolm Marx.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Joining hooker Marx were props Ox Nche and Thomas du Toit, twice Player of the Year Pieter-Steph du Toit, flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and winger Cheslin Kolbe, a year after seven Springboks were named in the 2024 list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">South Africa capped off a highly successful year by securing back-to-back Rugby Championship titles for the first time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/all-blacks\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/all-blacks\">New Zealand<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/wallabies\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/wallabies\">Australia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/england-rugby\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/england-rugby\">England<\/a> each contributed two players to the team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">World Rugby Men\u2019s Dream Team of the Year 2025<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">15 Will Jordan (New Zealand);
