West Coast has strengthened its midfield stocks with the addition of three experienced players – Deven Robertson, Finlay Macrae and Harry Schoenberg.<\/p>\n
Signed on the opening day of the Supplemental Selection Period, the trio joined the full squad for their first training session on Monday as pre-season ramps up.<\/p>\n
Robertson, 24, returns home to Western Australia after five seasons with Brisbane and 47 games where he played in a Grand Final and built a reputation for his competitive edge and professionalism.<\/p>\n
A hard-running midfielder, he broke into the Lions\u2019 side in 2023 and seized his opportunity, playing 13 home-and-away games and all three finals.<\/p>\n
Head of List Management and Recruiting Matt Clarke said the club was thrilled to secure Robertson.<\/p>\n
\u201cDev is a high-quality individual who comes from a highly successful program,\u201d Clarke said. \u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to him showcasing his ball-winning ability, hardness and competitive traits on-field, as well as his work ethic and standards off-field.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe feel Dev is a great fit for our midfield and will complement the emerging players we\u2019ve added through the draft.\u201d<\/p>\n
Joining him is Finlay Macrae, a highly regarded midfield prospect with strong football pedigree who played 21 games after being drafted by Collingwood at pick 19 in the 2020 National Draft.<\/p>\n
Renowned for his clean ball use and composure under pressure, Macrae\u2019s versatility allows him to play wing, midfield or high forward, and the 23-year-old\u2019s elite running capacity makes him a genuine transition player.<\/p>\n
Clarke said Macrae\u2019s professionalism and adaptability will be a major asset.<\/p>\n
\u201cFin has consistently performed at a high level in the state league and has always been right in the mix for senior opportunities,\u201d Clarke said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a really good athlete and a strong transition runner. A great person and a genuine pro who will lift the standards of the group.\u201d<\/p>\n
Schoenberg was selected by Adelaide Crows as pick 24 in the 2019 draft after earning South Australia\u2019s MVP award and All-Australian honours at the AFL Under 18 Championships.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old is a strong, hard-working inside midfielder who thrives on the contest and has 62 games of AFL experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cHarry has great footy IQ and is a really smart player with good ball use by foot,\u201d Clarke said.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cSimilar to Fin, he\u2019s been in and out of the side, but his state league form has been outstanding.<\/p>\n
\u201cBoth Harry and Fin are in the perfect age demographic for us and bring plenty of experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving these three experienced players who are all hungry for opportunity at the highest level, will continue lifting the standards of the group and accelerate the development of the younger players and draftees.\u201d<\/p>\n
