{"id":308356,"date":"2025-11-25T19:41:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T19:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/308356\/"},"modified":"2025-11-25T19:41:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T19:41:08","slug":"worldsbk-reject-hopes-for-return-to-victory-2026-worldssp-return","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/308356\/","title":{"rendered":"WorldSBK reject hopes for return to victory 2026 WorldSSP return"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">After three years on the GRT Yamaha WorldSBK team, Dominique Aegerter changes teams, manufacturers, and classes in 2026 as he seeks to return to competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Aegerter\u2019s two title years in Supersport were among the most dominant in the championship\u2019s history, taking 10 victories in 2021 and 17 wins in 2022, but the Swiss has not found the same success in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">World Superbike<\/a>, his only podium finishes coming in the final round of his rookie season in 2023 when he finished second in the Jerez Superpole Race and third in Race 2.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The 35-year-old thus found a return to Supersport with Kawasaki\u2019s official team, run by the Puccetti team that has been victorious in the past with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/1588\/kenan-sofuoglu\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kenan Sofuoglu<\/a>, as his best option for 2026.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI had a good option to go to the Puccetti team, and to go back to 600cc is not a big step backwards,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/1018294\/dominique-aegerter\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dominique Aegerter<\/a> told WorldSBK.com at the EICMA show in Milan.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cBut I try to make my career more forward and in the Superbike category, the last two seasons my results were not the best, so my best option was to go back to Supersport.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI have many great memories there, so I\u2019m very happy to join the Kawasaki Puccetti team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As a two-time champion, Aegerter\u2019s level can surely only be satisfied by championship contention in his Supersport return.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe will see,\u201d he said, when asked about his goals for 2026.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cOf course, these two seasons that I made in World Supersport I won two titles, many great victories, and great numbers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cSo, we will see how the test will be (Aegerter will test with Puccetti at Jerez this week at the WorldSBK test on 26\u201327 November) and our goal is for sure to try to fight in the front. The team and me will give everything to achieve this result.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Puccetti: I don\u2019t know who will be ahead<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Aegerter\u2019s arrival at Puccetti for 2026 is a part of an expansion for the Italian squad, rather than as a replacement.
