\"Rakul Bollywood is currently debating work-life balance after reports that Deepika Padukone<\/a> requested an eight-hour workday following motherhood. The actress was reportedly dropped from two major projects \u2013 \u2018Spirit\u2019 and \u2018Kalki 2\u2019, allegedly because of her decision.Now, Rakul Preet Singh<\/a> has stepped in with her take on the controversy, stressing that work hours are personal and can\u2019t be the same for everyone. She believes actors should be free to set their own schedules depending on their stage of life, priorities, and personal commitments.<\/p>\n

Rakul Preet says working hours depend on life stage<\/p>\n

Speaking to Siddharth<\/a> Kannan, Rakul said, \u201cI feel that working hours are very subjective to where you are in your life right now. How you were at the age of 16 is not how you are at the age of 25, is not how you are at the age of 35, and so on. So there is never one rule for anybody. Aap yeh to nahi expect karoge na ki Amitabh ji 14 hours kaam kare. (You wouldn\u2019t expect Amitabh ji to work 14 hours, right?). So it is very subjective.”<\/p>\n

She says everyone can decide own work hours<\/p>\n

The \u2018Aiyaary\u2019 actress further said, \u201cEvery person has the right to decide that in this phase of my life, I want to give this much time to my family, or work for this many hours. And if I can\u2019t do more than that, then I will unfortunately have to let go. Everybody has the right to decide how much they want to work.”<\/p>\n

Rakul Preet recalls long hours worked by earlier actors<\/p>\n

The \u2018Doctor G\u2019 actress also pointed out that many actors who now work shorter hours once managed extremely long schedules. \u201cI am sure those who work 8 hours today have worked a lot earlier. They have even worked 48 hours straight. Like Ajay sir, Akshay sir \u2013 in the 90s, they would go from one film set to another. They would change only their shirts while wearing the same jeans. That also used to happen. And now they have reached a point that they can decide how much work they want to do. So you transition with time and with where you are in life,” she said.<\/p>\n
