Former Brisbane, Gold Coast and Adelaide midfielder Jarryd Lyons<\/a> has called time on his professional football career after a farewell campaign with SANFL side Glenelg.<\/p>\n

Lyons signed with the Bays for 2025 after a 14-year career in the top flight, which commenced with the Crows via the 2010 AFL Draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Victorian spent six years on Adelaide’s list, playing 55 games for the Crows prior to seeking a switch to the Suns.<\/p>\n

Lyons spent just two years with Gold Coast before seeing the club decide to delist him despite the veteran onballer having a contract for another 12 months.<\/p>\n

Brisbane swooped on the midfielder’s services, which would prove to be a valuable play as Lyons went on to become a key piece of Chris Fagan’s plans in 2019.<\/p>\n

Lyons enjoyed a career-best campaign in 2021, playing 24 games for a return of 28.08 disposals, 6.42 tackles and 6.21 clearances for the Lions.<\/p>\n

Having spent most of 2023 in the VFL, Lyons claimed the J.J. Liston Trophy as the competition’s best and fairest as the Lions made another deep finals run.<\/p>\n

After a three-game campaign last year, Lyons decided to call time on his AFL<\/a> career, opting for a move to Glenelg to play alongside brother Corey. The pair were pivotal in the Tigers reaching the SANFL Grand Final this year, losing to Sturt in the season decider.<\/p>\n

While deciding to call time on his SANFL career, Lyons has opted to continue playing football at the local level, signing with South Australian club Hahndorf\u00a0in the Hills Football League.<\/p>\n
