The Brisbane Broncos<\/a> rebrand launch has received mixed reviews from far and wide, with some of the country\u2019s top politicians joining the debate.<\/p>\n

Key pieces of the launch include a new logo and and also a new away strip, with some fans questioning the navy blue colour of that strip.<\/p>\n

But the logo has caused the most debate, with Brisbane claiming it features the \u201ciconic Bronco, forward-facing\u201d and is a nod to the original 1988 logo.<\/p>\n

But curiously, the word \u2018Broncos\u2019 has been dropped from the design, sparking backlash from many fans.<\/p>\n

In a video on the club\u2019s site, Brisbane show the evolution of the logo, with all the past designs featuring the word Broncos.<\/p>\n

But that has now been wiped from history.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll this talk about the Broncos wanting to take their brand global \u2026 perhaps they should have added \u2018Broncos\u2019 in their new logo\u2026 because now they can easily be mistaken as the Brisbane Seahorses,\u201d one fan said on social media.<\/p>\n

And another: \u201cSo a logo without the word Broncos\u2026 well done! Which marketing team did this? The same one as Jaguar or Bud Lite? What a s*** logo!\u201d<\/p>\n

Another fan, Joe Mitchell, even started started a petition to \u201cRevert Brisbane Broncos Logo\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe change was implemented without sufficient consultation or engagement with the fanbase, which has resulted in widespread dissatisfaction and disappointment,\u201d the petition states.<\/p>\n

\u201cFans have taken to social media and local forums to express their frustration, demonstrating a clear preference for the restoration of the original logo.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is crucial for the Brisbane Broncos management to acknowledge this outcry by the loyal fanbase.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy signing this petition, you are urging the Brisbane Broncos to reconsider their decision. Our goal is to amass enough support to show that bringing back the original logo is essential for preserving the heritage and pride of Brisbane.\u201d<\/p>\n

One fan of the rebrand, however, is Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI give it 100 out of 100. I think it\u2019s absolutely perfect. I think it\u2019s a good demonstration that even after winning the premiership in the men\u2019s and women\u2019s comps that they\u2019ll be a fresh approach to the next season,\u201d Chalmers told Sky News.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s wonderful and I\u2019ll be loading up on all of the merch with the new logo on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk also said she \u201cliked it it a lot\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m quite sure we will all be going out and buying the new shirts,\u201d Palaszczuk said.<\/p>\n

The navy away strip is a tribute to club icon Cyril Connell, \u201chonouring the roots of rugby league in Queensland\u201d.<\/p>\n

But eyebrows have been raised over the colour.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlue? Someone must still be celebrating the GF. Queensland is Maroon. There is nothing wrong with the white with maroon and gold. Blue is not Queensland,\u201d one fan said on social media.<\/p>\n

And another: \u201cNo thanks. Colour looks too close to the (Melbourne).\u201d<\/p>\n

The rebrand launch also included a new battle cry, \u201cWe Charge On\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is more than just a logo \u2014 it\u2019s a statement of who we are, where we\u2019re from and importantly, where we\u2019re headed,\u201d CEO Dave Donaghy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019d be doing the Club, our Members and fans a disservice if we didn\u2019t prepare for the broader opportunities in front of us.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd what a way for our old logo to bow out, having been part of some of the Club\u2019s greatest moments, including the history that was made this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The rebrand was developed with global brand agency DDB Group and, according to the club, has come after 18 months of consultation with players, staff, member groups and sponsors.<\/p>\n
