It’s no secret that\u00a0The Valley<\/a>‘s\u00a0Jax Taylor<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Brittany Cartwright<\/a>\u00a0had a difficult season. From Jax going to a mental health facility<\/a>\u00a0to Brittany serving him divorce papers<\/a>, the now-separated couple’s relationship has\u00a0continued to struggle throughout Season 2<\/a>. However, Jax has hopes for the two getting to a better place.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with BravoTV.com backstage at\u00a0The Valley\u00a0reunion taping, Jax shared how he felt going into the dramatic day after such a tumultuous season.<\/p>\n

“I have pretty thick skin, and I’m just gonna go in and hear everybody out and hope everybody hears me out [and] just kinda take it from there,” he said. “I’m in a very different place in my life now, so, my anger is not so much there anymore.”<\/p>\n

Jax then revealed his primary focus going into the taping.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“My main concern is Brittany,” he declared.<\/p>\n

Jax continued, sharing a message for his ex-wife<\/a>. “My main concern is just letting her know just how sorry I am we got to this place,” he explained. “I don’t know how we got here, but we got here. And basically just letting her know I will always love her and I will always be there for her and, obviously, she will be in my life for the rest of my life.\u00a0We have a son together<\/a>, so, whatever I can do to be there for her and support her in her next venture, whatever she wants to do with her life, I will be here, and I will never live far away from her in case she needs me for anything and, of course, I don’t want to be away from my son.”<\/p>\n

“So, like I said, just taking accountability for everything that I’ve done \u2014\u00a0and I’ve done a lot \u2014\u00a0and basically just saying I’m sorry, and that I hope she can forgive me,” he added.<\/p>\n

Jax Taylor discusses the struggles he faced during\u00a0The Valley\u00a0Season 2<\/p>\n

When asked about his highs and lows of the season, the Michigan native was very transparent about the obstacles he’s faced this past year. “There [were] probably more lows than there [were] highs,” Jax shared. “I can’t tell you how hard this year was for me. It was the hardest year of my life. You know, losing my father was the hardest time. I lost my father, my best friend<\/a>, and that was the toughest thing I’ve ever gone through and then, obviously this year, I don’t know too many people who could go through what I have gone through and still be standing, to be honest with you.”<\/p>\n

“I couldn’t count on two hands all the things that have happened to me this year, not playing the victim at all, but just between losing my family, going to rehab twice<\/a>, being diagnosed with bipolar, PTSD, OCD<\/a>, losing my friends<\/a>, having a f\u2014king alcohol problem<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 I mean, I could go on and on and on,” he added.<\/p>\n

Jax Taylor opens up about his relationship with his and Brittany Cartwright’s son, Cruz<\/p>\n

Through all the hardship, Jax said there was “one reason” he kept fighting: his and Brittany’s four-year-old son, Cruz.<\/p>\n

“I have a son, and that’s the only reason why I’m still here. I do everything for him,” the dad shared.<\/p>\n

On July 15, Jax announced that he would not be returning to The Valley next\u00a0season.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I\u2019ll be stepping away from the next season of\u00a0The Valley,” he said in a statement. “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself\u00a0\u2014\u00a0especially for our son, Cruz.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n

The three-part reunion will air July 29, Aug. 5, and Aug. 12 on Bravo<\/a>, and extended and uncensored versions\u00a0of the episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.<\/p>\n
