Two of their next three came by six and seven points. Without their second All-Star, <a data-player-guid=\"2381f346-9247-3ba1-b632-fcef378a2799\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4593803\/jalen-williams\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jalen Williams<\/a>, there were some early signs of increased competitive fight against the defending champs &#8212; false alarm. The Thunder&#8217;s next 12 wins have all been by double digits. After setting an NBA record with a plus-12.9 point differential last season, the Thunder are blowing that away this season, upping it to plus-16.9 points in their cruise control of a 17-1 start. <a data-player-guid=\"4dcec409-3ff9-2881-2bc3-b4289ce6c36d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4278073\/shai-gilgeous-alexander\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a>, currently averaging 32.2 points, hasn&#8217;t appeared in 11 of the team&#8217;s 18 fourth quarters because business was already settled.&#8211; Anthony Slater<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1764227478_106_det.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"30\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025-26 record: 15-2<\/p>\n<p>Previous ranking: 3<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/gn-arrow.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Next games: @ BOS (Nov. 26), vs. ORL (Nov. 28), @ MIA (Nov. 29), vs. ATL (Dec. 1)<\/p>\n<p>There is no end in sight for these guys, who are rising in efficiency on both ends of the court and keeping strong as a top-10 team. That&#8217;s a prerequisite for a championship profile, especially having a top-five defense without a full roster. They were winless in November 2023 and now stand to possibly go undefeated in November two years later. <a data-player-guid=\"38031c4c-26bc-3695-bb1c-e61da33b57df\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4433218\/jaden-ivey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jaden Ivey<\/a> has returned, and although on a minutes restriction, looks close to the blur he has always been. Also, <a data-player-guid=\"c28c6569-86f0-3c1e-bcab-b946fbc06ff6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4432166\/cade-cunningham\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cade Cunningham<\/a> went through a franchise-record streak: 25.2 points, 10.4 assists and 6.2 rebounds in 10 games, with his shooting percentage of 47.0 only being negatively affected by that one 14 for 45 showing against the Wizards two weeks ago.&#8211; Vincent Goodwill<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1764227479_182_den.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"30\"\/><\/p>\n<p><a data-player-guid=\"657d52d7-47ba-335d-b936-531e62eced90\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4576087\/peyton-watson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Peyton Watson<\/a>, who is headed toward restricted free agency after failing to reach an agreement on an extension of his rookie contract with the Nuggets, will have an extended stretch as a starter to showcase himself with <a data-player-guid=\"44c766da-e62b-549a-0575-18b1efc537a1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4431767\/christian-braun\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christian Braun<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"d6c22a9f-fbe3-1566-e175-c86137d057a5\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/3064290\/aaron-gordon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aaron Gordon<\/a> out for weeks because of injuries. Watson has averaged 16.7 points and 6.7 rebounds while starting the past six games, highlighted by the two highest-scoring performances of his career (32 and 27 points in wins over the Pelicans and Grizzlies, respectively). Watson is shooting 40% from 3-point range this season, which could be the key to getting the kind of contract he&#8217;s seeking. &#8212; Tim MacMahon<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1764227479_281_hou.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"30\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Rising star <a data-player-guid=\"d46a44b0-75e5-3475-a977-c64be5aaec40\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4684740\/amen-thompson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amen Thompson<\/a> tied a season-high in scoring with 28 against Phoenix on Monday, with 8 rebounds and 7 assists, marking his second performance this season with at least 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, as <a data-player-guid=\"dc324fde-eee8-98e2-09ac-d31d8ad9909e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/3202\/kevin-durant\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kevin Durant<\/a> dealt with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/47074988\/sources-rockets-kevin-durant-miss-2-games-family-issue\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">personal matter<\/a> that kept him away from the team. <a data-player-guid=\"dad4f5fb-9739-38ac-b3b5-5d7937c29232\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4871144\/alperen-sengun\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alperen Sengun<\/a>, meanwhile, has scored at least 10 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists in every game, good for the seventh-longest streak since 1950 to start a season, according to ESPN Research. By not reacting at all, according to LeBron James. &#8220;It won&#8217;t last,&#8221; James insisted on Sunday after L.A. went 10-for-38 (26%) from 3 during a win in Utah. &#8220;We&#8217;re not worried about it. He&#8217;s averaging 29.9 points while shooting 50% from the field, both of which are career highs, carrying the Cavs while <a data-player-guid=\"eb092265-024f-9840-7f49-507cfcab5aab\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4396907\/darius-garland\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Darius Garland<\/a> still works his way back into form from injury. Beating the likes of Charlotte, Washington and Brooklyn counts in the standings, but it shouldn&#8217;t change the perception of a team. However, the other two victories in the Raptors&#8217; streak carry much more importance: Toronto beat Cleveland twice within the past two weeks. The Kings just followed up one of the more uncompetitive eight-game losing streaks in history &#8212; defeats of 31, 27, 14, 33, 14, 13, 14 and 41 points &#8212; with their two best wins of the season. They finished off the Nuggets in Denver to close a long road trip and then roared back from 10 down in the final two minutes to beat the Timberwolves at home. Those Pistons, of course, had the beginning outline of the team that is now atop the Eastern Conference, so perhaps this path &#8212; which has seen several young Wizards improve as they take their lumps &#8212; is headed toward future contention.
