King Charles<\/a> is likely to give Princess Beatrice<\/a> and Princess Eugenie<\/a> more royal duties, despite the scandal that has engulfed their parents Andrew Mountbatten Windsor<\/a> and Sarah Ferguson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The York sisters, who have retained their royal titles despite their parents being stripped of theirs<\/a>, are keen to help the monarch where possible.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the royal family’s official website has updated its succession page by removing Andrew’s royal titles \u2013 nearly a month after he was formally removed of them by his brother.<\/p>\n

The King is said to be “testing the water” to see how well his nieces are received by the public, according to Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl.<\/p>\n

Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35, are not working royals and do not receive any public money.<\/p>\n

However, they are occasionally seen at larger royal events in support of the monarch and his family including garden parties, Trooping the Colour and Royal Ascot.\ufeff<\/p>\n

A source told the publication<\/a>: \ufeff”It was something that was being looked at before recent events but despite what has happened with Andrew, it’s not off the cards.”<\/p>\n

The source added: “Whatever people might think of Andrew, the girls are kind, hardworking and want to help if they can.”<\/p>\n

The King’s promotion of his nieces would be seen as a public show of support\ufeff during what has been a tumultuous time for the family<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The sisters were recently spotted on the streets of London embracing each other.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThey both have jobs \u2013 Princess Beatrice works as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at tech company Afiniti, while Princess Eugenie is director for the art gallery Hauser & Wirth.<\/p>\n

Last week, Princess Eugenie was announced as a mentor for The King’s Foundation and attending a reception for under 35-year-olds in London.<\/p>\n

In a statement, she said of the event: \ufeff”It was fantastic to spend more time with the 35 under 35, who are such an incredible group of talented young people.<\/p>\n

“I have enjoyed getting to know them better and hearing about their work and aspirations, and look forward to supporting their journeys into the future.<\/p>\n

“My career has been shaped by a passion for the arts, so it’s a pleasure to be working with The King’s Foundation to support this inspirational group of artists and creatives.”<\/p>\n

Also earlier this month, Princess Beatrice was named Deputy Patron of The Outward Bound Trust, a charity focused on outdoor education, after serving as a trustee for six years. The King’s youngest brother, Prince Edward, was confirmed as its Royal Patron.<\/p>\n

A source close to the King told Vanity Fair: “There was no deal struck about the future for Beatrice and Eugenie, they are private individuals in that respect, but there have been talks for some time about using them when and if there is a need.<\/p>\n

“For their part, they have let it be known that they are more than willing to do public duties if and when they can to support the king.”<\/p>\n

In mid-October, Buckingham Palace announced that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor \u2013 formerly known as Prince Andrew \u2013 was voluntarily giving up the use of his royal titles<\/a> due to the ongoing fallout over his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n

Two weeks later, the monarch went a step further and formally removed<\/a> Andrew’s royal titles, and those of his ex-wife. It was also announced they would move out of Royal Lodge in Windsor.<\/p>\n

Andrew will soon relocate to a property on the King’s private Sandringham estate<\/a>, in Norfolk, expected to happen in the New Year.<\/p>\n

Line of succession updated<\/p>\n

The official website for the British royal family has updated its line of succession page<\/a>, listing Andrew without his royal titles.<\/p>\n

He appears on the page simply as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, with the hyphen now added.<\/p>\n

Last week, the palace was said to be introducing a hyphen into Andrew’s new name<\/a>, in accordance with the late Queen Elizabeth II’s wishes.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The surname, with a hyphen, was created to keep Prince Philip’s surname \u2013 Mountbatten \u2013 within the family. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Andrew remains eighth in line to the throne<\/a> and it would take an act of Parliament to formally remove him along with consent from the 14 Commonwealth realms, including Australia and Canada.<\/p>\n

He sits just below Princess Lilibet<\/a>, the daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The royal family’s website was updated soon after Andrew’s titles were removed and his biography disappeared from the page<\/a> about the principal members of the family.<\/p>\n

But the line of succession page had yet to be changed, until now.<\/p>\n
