But it was Cam Waters who took honours across the field, as he trumped David Reynolds for the fastest lap at Adelaide\u2019s street circuit.<\/p>\n
Mostert, one of four title contenders alongside Allen and Red Bull Racing duo Broc Feeney and Will Brown, has never claimed a Supercars championship \u2013 instead he\u2019s a three-time third place getter.<\/p>\n
But under the new finals system, Mostert remains a massive chance to break his title drought.<\/p>\n

He finished sixth fastest in the first practice, followed by Brown in seventh.<\/p>\n

Feeney could only manage 11th as he hopes to achieve his maiden Supercars crown after an impressive 2025 season that\u2019s included 16 pole positions.<\/p>\n
But Allen copped the biggest scare of all four remaining contenders as he had to take evasive action to avoid Andre Heimgartner late in practice.<\/p>\n
Supercars commentator Garth Tander described it as \u201cheart in mouth\u201d for Allen who registered the 18th fastest time.<\/p>\n
It was Allen flying down toward turn 1 at 215km\/h when Heimgartner exited from pit lane. But it was there he sat in Allen\u2019s racing line before a last second move was made to avoid contact.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat could have been a very high speed nasty moment,\u201d Fox Motorsport\u2019s Neil Crompton said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is proper spooky!<\/p>\n
\u201cCould have been an aeroplane crash on the pit lane exit \u2026 Holy smoke!\u201d<\/p>\n
Supercars great Mark Skaife described Allen arriving at \u201cwarp speed\u201d before he had to narrowly avoid Heimgartner.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you get down to turn 1, you\u2019re doing 215km\/h \u2013 the speed coming out of the pits is 70-80km\/h at that point,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is out of control.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is so close!<\/p>\n

\u201c(Andre) had a quick look in the rear view mirror and saw Kai arriving \u2026 There\u2019s some sliding door moments in car racing \u2013 that was one there.<\/p>\n
\u201cA get out of jail free card there for Kai.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tander said Heimgartner\u2019s best play would have been to remain in the pit exit before rejoining behind Allen \u2013 rather than pulling out in front.<\/p>\n
Luckily for both drivers, no contact was made.<\/p>\n
Feeney himself narrowly avoided his own disaster after running wide at Turn 7.<\/p>\n
Supercars return to the track on Friday morning for Practice 1 at 10:30am local\/11:00am AEDT, followed by Boost Mobile Qualifying at 12:40pm local\/1:10pm AEDT.
