December is almost here and it\u2019s bringing with it far more than mistletoe and wine as the TV schedules<\/a> are packed with brilliant shows to get stuck into! In fact, there are so many great shows coming our way that we\u2019ve been busy working our way through them to bring you the best ones that we can confirm are 100% worth your time. <\/p>\n

If you\u2019re not yet ready for the full festive shebang, fear not because The Abandons<\/a> is Gillian Anderson\u2019s new Yellowstone-esque series that\u2019s bringing all the drama. Paramount+ is also gifting us with The Revenge Club<\/a> in which the shenanigans of a \u2018divorce club\u2019 make for brilliantly compelling viewing. And when you\u2019re ready for Christmas? There are plenty of supersized specials coming our way. So, heated blankets at the ready because these are the 15 shows to watch on ITV, Netflix, the BBC and more this winter. <\/p>\n

The Hunting Wives\"from<\/p>\n

It was a huge hit in the US, so we’re pretty thrilled that ITV has snapped up The Hunting Wives<\/a>. Adapted from May Cobb\u2019s 2021 novel, Sophie O\u2019Neil (Brittany Snow) has moved with her architect husband Graham (Evan Jonigkeit) to the fictional town of Maple Brook, Texas. A former Democrat operative trying to stay sober, she soon falls in with a pro-MAGA, gun-toting clique of wealthy women, led by bisexual hedonist Margo Banks (Malin \u00c5kerman). Margo is also the wife of Graham\u2019s new boss Jed (Dermot Mulroney), and, awkwardly, soon to be the object of Sophie\u2019s desires. Arriving on ITVX on Saturday 27th December.<\/p>\n

The Abandons\"the<\/p>\n

Gillian Anderson and Games of Thrones\u2019 Lena Heady are going head-to-head as two matriarchs fronting warring clans in 1854 Washington – and it’s quite the battle. Lena’s Fiona Nolan is a fierce, faith-driven Irish immigrant with four adopted orphans, while Gillian\u2019s Constance Van Ness is a mining heiress who will stop at nothing to grow her fortune. Think The Crown meets Yellowstone, but nastier. Arriving on Netflix on Thursday 4th December.

The clue is in the title of this brilliant new series, which sees six lonely, hapless strangers, each reeling from betrayal and heartbreak, come together to form a divorce support group. The result is an ill-judged idea: to take revenge on the people who broke their hearts. Forged exam papers and rat invasions start as a bit of fun for the likes of Emily (Aim\u00e9e-Ffion Edwards), Calum (Martin Compston) and Rita (Meera Syal), until their appetite for revenge spirals. The adaptation of J.D. Pennington\u2019s The Othello Club is written by The Girlfriend\u2019s Gabbie Asher – and it\u2019s just as brilliantly warped. Arriving on Paramount+ on Friday 12th December. <\/p>\n

Emily in Paris\"lily<\/p>\n

Emily\u2019s unstoppable ambition has led her Rome where she\u2019s living la dolce vita. She\u2019s landed a new power role as head of Agence Grateau Rome and has a red hot romance on the cards with handsome Italian man Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) \u2013 but what will happen with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), who finally realised he wanted to be with her in the final moments of series 4? Tune in to find out. Arriving on Netflix on Thursday 18th December. <\/p>\n

The Family Next Door\"the<\/p>\n

Sally Hepworth\u2019s 2018 novel has been compared to Liane Moriarty\u2019s Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers, which means it makes for great TV. The small screen version has already been a big hit in Australia and stars Teresa Palmer (from the BBC\u2019s Mix Tape), as the enigmatic Isabelle, a newcomer to the small seaside cul-de-sac Pleasant Court in Australia. Isabelle is working for Child Protection investigating the disappearance of a baby – and first, she must charm her way into the lives of four neighbouring families. Easier said than done. Arriving on ITVX on Sunday 21st December. <\/p>\n

Stranger Things Series 5\"stranger<\/p>\n

Almost a decade after we entered Hawkins, Indiana, the finale is being drawn out in three parts over two months. The first is available to stream now, with the following two arriving this December. Series 5 is set a year after the events of the last one, and the hunt is on for Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), forcing her back into hiding. The group are also trying to find and kill Vecna, which isn\u2019t exactly easy when Hawkins is placed under military quarantine. Part 2 is arriving on Netflix on Thursday 25th December and Part 3 is arriving on Wednesday 31st December.<\/p>\n

Rowan Atkinson\u2019s newest comic character is bumbling middle-aged dad Trevor Bingley, who found himself in battle with a bee while house-sitting a posh mansion in 2022\u2019s Man vs. Bee. He\u2019s since left housesitting behind for a job as a caretaker \u2013 but now a lucrative offer to look after a luxury London penthouse over Christmas proves too tempting to resist. As does the Baby Jesus from the school nativity, who\u2019s been left behind on the last day of term\u2026 Arriving on Netflix on Thursday 11th December. <\/p>\n

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour – The End of an Era\"performance<\/p>\n

The six episodes are as intimate as we\u2019ve come to expect from Taylor\u2019s documentaries, spotlighting the performers, family members (Travis included) and friends (Ed Sheeran, Sabrina Carpenter and Florence Welch) behind The Eras Tour. The beloved spin-off about the school-gates queen bee, Amanda, is making a surprise return with an exciting twist. Dame Joanna Lumley<\/a>, the original cast favourite who plays Amanda\u2019s pretentious mother Felicity will be back for the special – and she’s bringing her former Ab Fab co-star Jennifer Saunders with her. Jennifer steps into the shoes of Aunt Joan, Felicity\u2019s sister and, according to the BBC, “Aunt Joan is a ball of country-living, enthusiastic upper-class bluster \u2013 very, very different from Felicity.” The special episode will be the first scripted on-screen reunion for Jennifer and Joanna since Absolutely Fabulous – and we have a feeling we won’t be disappointed. Sally Lindsay will be stepping back into the shoes of Jean White for a festive instalment of the adored Channel 5<\/a> detective drama. The extra-long (120 minutes!) episode sees the return of Jean White, who’s invited to authenticate a newly acquired treasure – a rare Ormolu box once owned by Marie Antoinette. However, things take a rather dark turn when Jean discovers a ticking bomb hidden inside. Arriving on Channel 5 this Christmas. <\/p>\n

Tobias Menzies and Joanna Lumley lead the cast of the latest ghost story adaptation from Mark Gatiss for the BBC. Gatiss\u2019 eighth ghost story is set in the inter-war years and revolves around Roger Winstanley who, for 15 years, has been haunted by an unsettling, recurring dream: an invitation to spend the night in the house of an acquaintance, where an unseen terror lurks and the figures who populate the dream seem to age in real time. According to the BBC, \u201cNightmare and waking life seem to finally collide when an invitation to the dreaded “room in the tower\u201d becomes all too real\u2026\u201d. Spooky! When Harry insists on leaving the farm to collect one last thing for their big day, a smooth-talking scarecrow named Reginald Rake swoops in with plans of his own. And what follows is nothing short of total chaos. With an all-star voice cast including Rob Brydon, Jessie Buckley and Domhnall Gleeson, expect another heartwarming watch. Why? To say thank you to the locals who helped them along the way. The pair will dive into Spanish Christmas traditions to serve up the ultimate fiesta. There\u2019s even more drama in part two, a man fallen in the snow and Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter) and Sister Hilda (Fenella Woolgar) facing down a gangster.
