In March 2022, the \u201cDie Hard\u201d star\u2019s family announced he was diagnosed with aphasia and would be retiring from acting.<\/a> His condition progressed to frontotemporal dementia<\/a> the following year. <\/p>\n Emma Willis went on to tell People that the holidays can be difficult for families who have loved ones with dementia. She then added that she thinks \u201cit\u2019s important to put \u2018Die Hard\u2019 on because it\u2019s a Christmas movie.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cYou have to learn and adapt and make new memories, bring in the same traditions that you had before,\u201d she continues. \u201cLife goes on. It just goes on.\u201d <\/p>\n Noting that \u201cdementia is hard,\u201d she declared, \u201cthere is still joy in it\u201d \u2014 though she said things aren\u2019t quite the same. <\/p>\n \u201cI think it\u2019s important that we don\u2019t paint such a negative picture around dementia,\u201d she added. \u201cWe are still laughing. There is still joy. It just looks different.\u201d<\/p>\n The couple tied the knot in 2009 after two years of dating. They share two daughters: Mabel Ray Willis and Evelyn Penn Willis. Bruce Willis is also a dad to daughters Rumer Glenn Willis, Scout LaRue Willis, and Tallulah Belle Willis, whom he welcomed with ex-wife Demi Moore. <\/p>\n Elsewhere in her chat with People, Emma Willis said that her family life has been \u201cvery simple \u2014 it always actually has been.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that just being able to be present with him, that is the joy. Me being able to be his wife with him. Those are the moments.\u201d<\/p>\n Last week, Rumer Willis gave a separate update<\/a> on her <\/a>father\u2019s well-being after being asked about him during an Instagram Q&A session<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople always ask me this question,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I think it\u2019s kind of a hard one to answer, because the truth is that anybody with FTD is not doing great.
