Sydney<\/a> captain Callum Mills’<\/a> awful run with injuries continues, with a hamstring injury now set to sideline him until after the Christmas break. <\/p>\n

The 28-year-old reportedly suffered the injury at training in a contact drill this week, the club has confirmed.<\/p>\n

The hamstring strain isn’t considered a long-term issue, but the complaint will interrupt the first half of his pre-season.<\/p>\n

It has been a tough two seasons for the Swans skipper. He missed the first half of the 2025 campaign with a tear in his plantar fascia.<\/p>\n

His 2024 campaign was derailed by a shoulder injury suffered during a Mad Monday incident with former teammate Jacob Konstanty.<\/p>\n

He then suffered a calf injury, further impacting his season, before a hamstring issue saw him miss the 2024 grand final loss to Brisbane.<\/p>\n

Mills, who has played 174 career games, has yet to be confirmed as Sydney’s captain for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

Speaking on SEN, Kane Cornes believes the mantle should pass to star midfielder Errol Gulden.<\/p>\n

“Errol Gulden, I think he looks every bit the captain. He is so young, but he seems 25. Would be an excellent captain,” Cornes said in November.<\/p>\n

Sydney opens the 2026 season at the SCG against Carlton in Opening Round.<\/p>\n

It will be Charlie Curnow’s first game against his old side, though in a favourable environment for the dual Coleman Medallist. <\/p>\n
