Nic Martin had successful knee surgery yesterday after consultation with his surgeon this week.<\/p>\n
Martin suffered a setback after a minor training incident a couple of weeks ago. Follow-up scans confirmed damage to the recently reconstructed knee.<\/p>\n
After consulting the surgeon and the Club\u2019s high-performance and medical team, Martin elected to have surgery to give himself the strongest long-term outcome.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s obviously a setback, but I have complete confidence in our medical and high-performance team and our long-term plan for me,\u201d Martin said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m feeling good post-surgery and I\u2019m ready to take the time to build my knee back up and I know I\u2019m in the best hands possible, and I\u2019ll attack this rehab with everything I\u2019ve got to come back stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n
This setback means he will commence the post-surgery period in a structured rehab program with a long-term focus to have him ready to attack day one of pre-season next year.<\/p>\n
General Manager of Football, Daniel McPherson, expressed disappointment for Martin but remains positive in his ability to return strongly.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are all really disappointed for Nic, but we are also really proud of the maturity with which he has handled this setback,\u201d McPherson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe decision to go back in for surgery sets Nic up for the best long-term result, and he\u2019s determined to come back from this setback an even better and stronger athlete.<\/p>\n
\u201cAn important member of our Leadership Group, he is highly respected for the standards he sets, both in how he plays and how he carries himself around the Club. Despite being sidelined, he\u2019ll continue to have a significant influence on the group in 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur high-performance team have a clear plan in place, and we\u2019re looking forward to seeing Nic fully fit and ready for a strong 2027 campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n
