{"id":314379,"date":"2025-11-28T13:50:10","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T13:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/314379\/"},"modified":"2025-11-28T13:50:10","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T13:50:10","slug":"uk-unveils-bid-for-2035-womens-football-world-cup-with-15-cities-and-22-stadiums-in-mix-womens-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/314379\/","title":{"rendered":"UK unveils bid for 2035 women\u2019s football World Cup with 15 cities and 22 stadiums in mix | Women&#8217;s World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have submitted their bid to host the 2035 Women\u2019s World Cup as the largest single-sport event staged in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Lionesses\u2019 leading goalscorer, Ellen White, described the bid as \u201creally special\u201d and compared it to her experience of the 2012 Olympics as a part of Team GB.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cWe felt it in the Olympics in 2012, that exposure, that amazing sense of togetherness,\u201d she said. \u201cThe whole worldwide captivation was really special. Seeing all the different nations, the cultures, the diversity, the inclusivity, was really special to be involved with. The fact that it\u2019s a World Cup [means] it is worldwide and all eyes will be on us and people will want to come and be a part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Among the 22 stadiums proposed as potential host venues for a tournament eight times bigger than the 2022 Euros are some undergoing redevelopment and the proposed new stadiums of Birmingham City and, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/football\/2025\/nov\/26\/new-old-trafford-fa-stadiums-list-2035-womens-world-cup\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">revealed by the Guardian<\/a>, Manchester United. Any new Chelsea stadium would also come into consideration, as would Stamford Bridge and Wrexham\u2019s stadium if redeveloped to meet Fifa requirements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Sixteen of the stadiums are in England, three are in Wales, two are in Scotland and one is in Northern Ireland. We\u2019ve done that really consciously to make a confident statement that in 10 years these stadiums will be among the best in the world, and that if they\u2019re built, then we obviously want them eligible for inclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The 22 stadiums will be whittled down to between 14 and 16. The 2031 tournament also has a sole bid submitted, from the United States, Mexico, Jamaica and Costa Rica.
