Quayle wants fans to get the popcorn out when a pack of stars stalks the co-leader in the Australian PGA Championship’s final round.<\/p>\n
Armed with Tiger Woods’ former caddie, Steve Williams, debuting on his bag, the 31-year-old European tour-bound talent has oozed confidence on his way to 13 under and an equal share of the lead at Royal Queensland GC with 18 holes to play.<\/p>\n
Spain’s David Puig and Portugal’s Ricardo Gouveia will team with Quayle in Sunday’s final group from 11am (AEDT).<\/p>\n
Adam Scott (11 under), who won a Masters with Williams on his bag, 2023 winner Min Woo Lee and New Zealand’s Kazuma Korobi (both 12 under) will be in the penultimate group.<\/p>\n
Marc Leishman (11 under), Cam Davis (10 under) and Geoff Ogilvy (10 under) are among 31 players within six shots of the leaders.<\/p>\n
Quayle shot a final-round 63 a year ago to burst into a tie for third and has had top-10 finishes in 11 of 17 events since, including six top-fives ahead of a full season on the DP World Tour next year.<\/p>\n
“That last round was just such a massive momentum shift with my career … think tomorrow could be another chance to take it another step further,” he said.<\/p>\n
“It [the stacked leaderboard] should make for a pretty exciting Sunday viewing. Make sure you tune in, I would say.”<\/p>\n
Quayle met Williams at this year’s New Zealand Open and struck a bond, with the Kiwi set to also caddie for him at next week’s Australian Open at Royal Melbourne.<\/p>\n
“I’ve already learned so much working with Steve … about what I’m probably looking for in a caddie and about my own game, as well and how that stacks up against some pretty good players,” Quayle said.<\/p>\n
“You could probably call it a win irrespective. I think either way I’ve had a fun week and I think it’s something I’ll remember for a pretty long time.”<\/p>\n
Quayle took the early clubhouse lead on Thursday and praised Williams for his positivity and direction, commenting that he wasn’t as “intense” as he’d expected him to be.<\/p>\n
