The Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> left Arrowhead Stadium in Week 12 with a 23-20 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts, but it came at a cost for two of the team\u2019s players.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs fell behind 14-3 in the second quarter and 20-9 in the third before mounting an 11-point comeback in the fourth quarter and ultimately pulling out the victory in overtime.<\/p>\n

But early in the first quarter, Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie was involved in a play that ended up hitting him hard in the wallet.<\/p>\n

As he tackled Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren, McDuffie reached out to grab him and ended up with a hand full of Warren\u2019s facemask.<\/p>\n

No flag was called on the play, but after reviewing the film, the NFL<\/a> decided McDuffie\u2019s actions warranted supplemental discipline, which is why the league fined him $11,593 for unnecessary roughness (facemask) on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Colts coaching staff protested the officials believing a flag should have been thrown, giving the Colts an extra 15 yards and a first down.<\/p>\n

McDuffie wasn\u2019t the only Chiefs player who was fined after the Colts game either. Offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia was also fined $8,108 for unnecessary roughness (blindside block).<\/p>\n

Video replay showed the 6-foot-5, 325-pound offensive tackle bulldozing Colts cornerback Charvarius Ward, who\u2019s 6-foot-1 and 196 pounds, during a run back.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity, the NFL and NFL Players Association have agreed on a set of game-related rules violations that may result in accountability measures,\u201d the NFL explained on its website of why players are fined each week.<\/p>\n
