The Catamounts opened the game with two fast-break layups by senior Jadyn Weltz<\/a> and junior Malia Lenz<\/a> to take a 4\u20130 lead at the 8:34 mark of the first quarter.<\/p>\n
Vermont followed with three straight baskets. A layup from senior Nikola Priede<\/a>, a close-range finish by redshirt freshman Savanna Creal<\/a>, and a three-pointer from sophomore Emma Haan<\/a> to extend the lead to 14\u20138 with 3:21 left in the period.<\/p>\n
The second quarter started with back-and-forth action. Santa Clara scored on a layup by redshirt junior Maia Jones and a three-pointer from sophomore Aniya Hooker to cut the deficit to four at the 8:30 mark.<\/p>\n
The Catamounts answered with a Priede layup and a mid-range jumper from Weltz, pushing the lead to 21\u201316 with 6:14 remaining in the quarter.<\/p>\n
Haan drove down the lane for a layup, and Priede connected on a close-range jumper to give Vermont a 25\u201321 advantage.<\/p>\n
Jones opened the third quarter with a three-pointer to tie the game at 26.<\/p>\n
Hanson responded by scoring 11 straight points for Vermont, capping the run with a driving layup to put the Catamounts up 37\u201331.<\/p>\n
Vermont closed the third quarter with a Lenz three-pointer just before the buzzer.<\/p>\n
The Catamounts opened the fourth with a 9\u20132 run before Jones stopped the surge with another three-pointer.<\/p>\n
