Despite not getting over the chalk this week, Leota topped the tackle count for the home side as they held off a fast finish from the visitors, with Jermaine Ainsley starting and Monty Ioane scoring a try in the 6th minute.

Toulouse kept their position at the top of the competition with a 48-24 win over Taniela Tupou’s future home Racing 92, with ex-NRL star Joey Manu featuring off the bench.

Clermont overcame Stade Francais Paris 36-32 at home, with Wallaby veteran Rob Simmons putting in a 60-minute effort for the visitors, while Alex Newsome put in a big shift off the bench and Irae Simone also provided input off the bench.

Lastly, Pau heaped more misery on La Rochelle in their 53-33 victory, a wild fixture that saw a red card to the visitors inside the first minute.

Jack Maddocks and Reece Hewat starred for the hosts in the starting lineup, while Tolu Latu put in a 47-minute effort for the visitors, and Kane Douglas provided impact off the bench.

Pro D2

Finally, former Wallaby turned Namibian international Richard Hardwick starred for Grenoble, scoring a try in their 33-25 victory over Biarritz, as did Zach Holmes, who kick two penalty goals and two conversions in Oyonnax’s 35-24 victory over Béziers.

Jake Strachan and Ben O’Donnell were right in the action as Aurillac defeated Soyaux-Angoulême 20-15 away from home, a 77th-minute try proving enough to defeat a side containing Wallabies Richie Arnold and Pone Fa’amausili.

Ryan McCauley also featured in the starting side for Valence Romans as they defeated Nevers 13-3 at home, with former Melbourne Rebel and Sunwolves star Efi Ma’afu featuring for the visitors.

Lastly, it was an afternoon to forget for two-capped Wallaby Caleb Timu, the former Reds star, receiving a yellow card in the 53rd minute as his side Colomiers went down 27-18 to Brive, with three more of his team mates also being shown the cheese.

With the international season done and dusted, plenty of Aussies were back in action across the English Premiership,…

[567
64,97542,63,760,85
0":"post-319775","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-rugby","8":"tag-au","9":"tag-aussies-abroad","10":"tag-australia","11":"tag-rugby","12":"tag-sports
["GET
